Considering it for my dd due April. My dh is half Italian and we're both keen for her to have an Italian name. I think it's lovely but would love to get others opinions?

DD's bf is Raphaella, Raphy for short.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 23/01/2021 19:04

Is Raffaella the Italian spelling? I thought it was Rafaella with a single F. - I prefer it spelt like that or Raphaela. But it's a nice name anyway, uncommon while fitting in with the Isabella's and Gabriella's.
**@Bundlebuns* and @kowari* having a name similar to a chocolate isn't too bad is it!? I hadn't even thought about that!
I'd call it a coconut almond confection, chocolate is a stretch, but yes there are worse things!

KirstenBlest · 23/01/2021 19:56

@Bundlebuns

I don't dislike it, but immediately thought of the white Ferrero Rocher Raffaello
The same.

If you like it use it. It's too long and frilly for my taste.

KirstenBlest · 23/01/2021 19:58

Wouldn't the italian name be Rafaela?
That looks much nicer and less frilly.

No. The Italian is Raffaella. It’s correct.
StepOutOfLine · 23/01/2021 20:33

I am in Italy and have several Raffaellas in classes.
I like it a lot.
They're all Raffa as a nickname. I shouldn't worry too much about nicknames as they tend to create themselves anyway.

Reinventinganna · 23/01/2021 20:37

It’s beautiful and I definitely prefer the Italian spelling.

massistar · 23/01/2021 21:50

Raffaella is the correct Italian spelling.

Dateloaf · 23/01/2021 21:53

Beautiful name!

RaininSummer · 23/01/2021 21:58

Lovely name. My parents had an Italian friend known as Lella. I wonder if that was her full name.

Chilldonaldchill · 23/01/2021 22:01

I love it!

Phoenix76 · 23/01/2021 22:30

I would have been made up if my parents chose that name for me op! Congratulations

StepOutOfLine · 23/01/2021 22:35

It will be. Older Raffaellas tend to be nicknamed Lella. Teenagers tend to be Raffa. I wonder if the change from Raffa to Lella later on!
Luckyelephant1 · 23/01/2021 23:11

I really love it OP!

MercyBodle · 24/01/2021 05:11

I love Raffaella and nn Rafi.

VenusClapTrap · 24/01/2021 18:38

It’s way too fussy for me.

CalmDownBoris72 · 24/01/2021 21:28

Oh I love it. My DD who was born last April was very nearly Raphaela. The sonographer at our 20 week scan was named this and she referred to herself as Raffy.

I liked Raffa as a NN if we’d used it.

YoniAndGuy · 25/01/2021 18:55

White Ferrero Rocher here too, sorry. I immediately saw the box!

Sheleg · 25/01/2021 19:33

I adore this name! I wanted Raphaela for DD but DH wasn't keen.
