I hate picking a name😂

Winnie would be her usual name but would put Winifred on the BC.

Love it!

Arrierttyclock · 20/01/2021 21:38

I love love love the name Winnie- I do like a full name on a BS though! I once knew a girl from Hong Kong called Winnie back in the 90s and she was the most wonderful girl so the name has always held good memories for me

LizFlowers · 20/01/2021 21:44

Horrible.

TriSarahTops · 20/01/2021 21:45

My grandmother was Winifred. She used Frida as a nickname.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/01/2021 22:37

I have a relative in her 60s who is winifred and she found it old fashioned when she was young.

I'm 60, it was a name redolent of battleaxe Great Aunts in that era.

adrianmolesmole · 20/01/2021 22:50

It's a bit 'old fussy aunt', like a Prudence or Prunella type of name, so no.

Firebird83 · 20/01/2021 23:31

I like it!

peapotter · 20/01/2021 23:36

Marmite!

I’d be interested to know the ages of the posters. I don’t like it. I’m over 40. Therefore I reckon it will become cool and popular soon.

GarlicSoup · 20/01/2021 23:37

Love it

ChezLuce · 20/01/2021 23:40

Harry Hill has a daughter with that name according to wikipedia.

ChezLuce · 20/01/2021 23:43

I came across a little English girl called winifred at an airport about 7 years ago

BackforGood · 20/01/2021 23:49

It seems to fit with all the "old lady names" that have been popular in the last few years.

Has a nice ring to it, too.

I do think there's a lot potential for 'Winnie the Pooh', then shortened to 'poo' ,but I actually still rather like it as a name.

ProudAuntie76 · 20/01/2021 23:53

Hate it. It’s ugly/witchy/stuffy sounding.

I know a little Winifred, I did initially wonder what on Earth her parents were thinking and I still feel a lot of pity towards the poor child. Initial thought was “do you actually HATE your child?”

I’ve since come across two baby Hildegards which is just as bad a name and so it looks like the ugly name trend is here to stay. Wondering when I’m going to meet babies Gertrude, Edna and Helga.

ProudAuntie76 · 20/01/2021 23:55

I do like Frida though. Like Kahlo. That’s cool and I would be very impressed at a baby Frida.

DramaAlpaca · 21/01/2021 01:08

No. Winifred is an unattractive name to me, as is Winnie.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 21/01/2021 01:11

Yes , Winifred is a lovely name , Winnie is sweet nn .

SmeleanorSmellstrop · 21/01/2021 05:08

LOVE Winnie! I know two baby Winifreds with two very hipster sets of parents so think the name might be/start to gain momentum in those sort of groups. Very cool

garlictwist · 21/01/2021 05:15

Really? No.

Papoy · 21/01/2021 05:21

Isn't that Boris Johnson's new baby's name?!

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 21/01/2021 05:24

My mums name and she has hated it her whole life.
Winnie the pooh!

mathanxiety · 21/01/2021 06:58

You're thinking of Wilfrid, Papoy

Angelmonkey · 21/01/2021 09:27

I know a teenager called Winifred, goes by Winnie - she hates it. I’m not keen, it it a bit old fashioned

Papoy · 21/01/2021 11:58

@mathanxiety ... oh yes, thats was his name isn't it... They sounded similar to me 😅

Sorry OP but this name doesn't do it for me either. The nickname winnie sounds sweet for a baby and at her older ages (like aunt winnie) but I dont think it will hold well in between.

How about Willow ?

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 21/01/2021 12:00

@peapotter to help with conducting your mini study: I'm 26 and love Winifred!

lockedownloretta · 21/01/2021 12:02
