Okay so I've loved this name ever since I was a girl for my first daughter, but absolutely everyone I've said it to despises it๐Ÿ˜‚

Nala Carmen

First and middle name.

Nice or awful?

How is Nala pronounced? Phonetically or Nail-a? Or indeed Nayla?

Speechiebaby · 18/01/2021 19:24

I wouldn't care what other people think and keep the names you like a secret so ppl can't pass judgement xx

babyno2pending · 18/01/2021 19:26

@Folicky like 'Narla' :)

Nala is awful but carmen is nice

Odile13 · 18/01/2021 19:26

I like the name Carmen - I prefer that as a first name. Iโ€™m not sure about the pronunciation of Nala.

Neighneigh · 18/01/2021 19:26

They do merge into each other a bit. My name and maiden surname did too, and saying them out loud I used to have to be careful not to make them one word.

babyno2pending · 18/01/2021 19:27

@Speechiebaby true I could keep it a surprise then people can't really say they don't like it when the baby is right in front of them ๐Ÿ˜‚xx

Reminds me of narwhal ๐Ÿค”

EdgeOfACoin · 18/01/2021 19:29

I'm afraid Nala just makes me think of the Lion King.

PinkFizz19 · 18/01/2021 19:29

I like Nala but it's the name of puppy Smile

It's Simba's friend and then partner (lioness) in the Lion King xxx

PinkFizz19 · 18/01/2021 19:30

Sorry name of my* puppy

^ That. 100%

Odile13 · 18/01/2021 19:31

Actually, doesnโ€™t Halle Berry have a daughter named Nahla? I remember thinking that was a pretty name when she announced it and itโ€™s possibly a better way of spelling it too.

ChelseaCat · 18/01/2021 19:32

I actually like both names but Iโ€™m not sure they work together in my opinion

formerbabe · 18/01/2021 19:33

Love the name Carmen

Nala is a nice sound...never heard it before.

Twillow · 18/01/2021 19:33

My association for Nala is the Lion King. So a little weird.

Yes, I like this spelling much better for some reason
babyno2pending · 18/01/2021 19:33

It's funny people mention lion king, that was my fave film as a child so I think that's where I got the fascination! Thank you for feedback guys

Carmen rollers.

Nala: no.

Speechiebaby · 18/01/2021 19:34

That's what I'm doing for my pending baby lol as it would just annoy me if someone close to me said something. They wouldn't dare once she is born haha xxGrin

cautiouscovidity · 18/01/2021 19:35

Nala is a common cat name around here (after The Lion King). I don't really like it for a child - sorry Confused
Carmen is lovely though.

user1174147897 · 18/01/2021 19:39

More Nahla than Narla? It sounds a bit like "gnarly Carmen" as a combo.

Carmen is nice. I could probably come around to Nahla, but not keen on them together.

muser1548 · 18/01/2021 19:45

I actually like Nala, agree that Nahla looks nice too.
Am not usually a fan of quirky names but that's a grower.

ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown · 18/01/2021 19:50

Nahla Carmen is easier to pronounce than Narla Carmen (the sounds, irrespective of the spelling).
I would not know to pronounce Nala as Narla.
The names would need a short additional middle name - you could say Narla Anne Carmen, Narla Rose Carmen etc much more easily.

RandomUsernameHere · 18/01/2021 19:50

To me the two names sound too similar (both have to "ar" sound) so they don't go well together
