Clio, Iris, Phoebe

Apollo

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 17/01/2021 23:24

Hector for a boy, Penelope for a girl.

1dayatatime · 19/01/2021 00:24

I always liked the name "Athena"with the nickname/ shortened version to "Pallas".

PastaAndPizzaPlease · 20/01/2021 00:04

I loved the name Circe and was dead set on it if I had a girl.

Then a friend (now ex friend) started sex work and used it as her work name. Put me off as you can imagine.

Hera

Tavannach · 20/01/2021 00:16

Athene
Paris

SheilaFentiman · 20/01/2021 00:20

Clytemnestra. Not the best connotations, though!

MrsWhistledown · 20/01/2021 00:21

Persephone for sure!

GameofPhones · 20/01/2021 00:22

I have met an Undine/Ondine (meaning little wave or spirit of the waters, as in inundated).

mawbroon · 20/01/2021 00:24

Cyamites.
Not really. But he was the god of BEANS 🤣🤣🤣

Peeteea · 20/01/2021 00:28

I am a fan of Merope but I prefer the spelling Meropi (that’s the spelling I see most when the person using it is actually Greek rather than naming from mythology).

IdblowJonSnow · 20/01/2021 00:33

Thea, Helena, Eleni are beautiful Greek names. Not sure about actual goddess names apart from Iris which is lovely.

I always thought Phaedra was Irish for some reason!

ILoveStickers · 20/01/2021 07:14

Iris
Phoebe
Selena/Selene
Cora
Ione
Athena
Gaia
Larissa
Lara

Or, of course, go all out and use Doris! Some of the Greek place names / nymph names are a little dates now, sadly. Ida, Doris, etc. They'll probably come back!

LadyCatStark · 20/01/2021 07:57

Again based purely on the name, not the character; I love Loki.

ParisJeTAime · 20/01/2021 09:36

Iris
Phoebe
Penelope (is that a greek goddess? Don't know my mythology all that well)
Clio
Hector
Daphne

Boys are harder than girls I think!

If I had to pick favourites of those, I'd go with Helena and Hector. I would shorten Helena to Nell I think.

MimiDaisy11 · 20/01/2021 09:59

I like the name Cynthia.

RosieLemonade · 20/01/2021 13:08

@ParisJeTAime Penelope was the name of Odysseyus wife.

My daughter's middle name is Elektra (yes, I know of the connotations, I have a classics degree, I just like the name...)

DonEmmanuelsDingleberries · 20/01/2021 13:21

Niobe (unfortunate story though!)

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 20/01/2021 19:34

Hero

SirSamuelVimes · 20/01/2021 19:46

Feeling quite pleased, I have one dd's middle name mentioned on here and one dd's first name!

AuntGertrude · 20/01/2021 20:33

Calliope
Cora
Thea

Hestia, if I could get away with it
