Persephone and Pandora.

MillieEpple · 17/01/2021 21:30

@Unicant

I dont know how to say that one out loud.
NoCureForLove · 17/01/2021 21:32

Electra
Jocasta

dementedma · 17/01/2021 21:33

Ariadne
Artemis
Demeter

Chilver · 17/01/2021 21:37

Phaedra
Alexander

Ginevere · 17/01/2021 21:38

Definitely Athena, it’s on the shortlist for our middle name!

jambeforeclottedcream · 17/01/2021 21:39

Athene or Athena
Is Juno Greek or Roman??
Diana
Pandora
Artemis
Phoebe
Persephone
Hera

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 17/01/2021 21:41

Cassandra, Ariadne, Io, Hebe, maybe Atalanta

Not so sold on male names tbh

TempsPerdu · 17/01/2021 21:41

Oh, forgot Gaia - which is odd as DD was very nearly called this!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/01/2021 21:41

Juno is the Roman equivalent of Hera. Diana is the Roman equivalent of Artemis.

CatherinedeBourgh · 17/01/2021 21:41

Daphne

CatandBaby · 17/01/2021 21:41

Kore/Cora definitely.

I also really like Hebe.

RhubarbAndMustard · 17/01/2021 21:42

I always liked Iphigenia as a name.

OppsUpsSide · 17/01/2021 21:44

Echo

Chunkymenrock · 17/01/2021 21:50

Phaedra, Helen, Iolanthe.

Chunkymenrock · 17/01/2021 21:51

Hebe, not Helen!

jambeforeclottedcream · 17/01/2021 21:54

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g

Juno is the Roman equivalent of Hera. Diana is the Roman equivalent of Artemis.
Thank you for clearing that up for me. At least I like names with similar meanings
RosieLemonade · 17/01/2021 21:59

Oh yes. Echo and Lo. I would never use any in real life. I have finished my sixth book about ancient greek mythology in as many months so I have been thinking about the names a lot.

I really wanted to call DD Clio, but I wasn't brave enough to put up with all the car comments (and didn't want her to have to either).

HandInGove · 17/01/2021 22:04

Athene

thefirstmrsrochester · 17/01/2021 22:07

Thea, Electra, Juno.

EileenGC · 17/01/2021 22:18

Hector for a boy.

Athena or Athenea but only if pronounced properly (with a Greek accent or other Southern Europe country at most). So only long, open E's.

TheCantankerousMare · 17/01/2021 22:36

Andromache

JuniLoolaPalooza · 17/01/2021 22:39

Deianira sounds so pretty but the story, not so much.

EBearhug · 17/01/2021 22:45

Clio (I have a history degree. I have also owned a Clio car.)
Hebe, Daphne, Iris.

I did like Ariadne until I did Latin A-level and a lengthy set text Catullus poem, and very particularly an exam essay comparing Ariadne on Naxos and Dido at Carthage, but I realise most people won't have those associations...

And I liked Persephone when I was about 8, but then I thought it was pronounced Percy-phone and I'd be aware how confusing it might be at school.
