Just that really! I am looking for suggestions. DH vetoed this name.

I was thinking Keir, but not sure if the association with Keir Starmer is too strong now.

We have ties to Ireland and Scotland, so Irish or Scottish names I think we are fine to use.

Angus Fergus
Love these! But already have a Gus, short for something else, (unusual, so a bit outing. Sorry to be vague).

Not mad on Ivor. Makes me think of "the terrible".

Glad you like suggestions @CuddlyAsACactus
Interesting you already have a Gus -with fairly unusual full name. It would be nice to pick something a bit different then this time too.
Names like Rory, Rowan, Roman, Ronnie are getting extremely popular and ubiquitous (and I would know, my baby daughter is called Rowan but often called Roan, RoHan or RoMan by accident). Ronan also very similar sounding.

I do like the name Keir. It's a shame about Starmer as we don't know what we will happen. He could be prime minister so name will be a very loaded name (a Boris equivalent) or he could get replaced in the next year or so and people forget the association. I like it but the sound it quite harsh, like 'spear'. I like the Alistair suggestion.

CuddlyAsACactus · 15/01/2021 12:47

Thanks!

Yes, it would be nice to have something else a bit unusual... I like that we have an unusual long name with a more common nickname. That definitely works well for us.

Shame about the Ro- names. They are popular for a reason though! They are lovely.

Maybe Evan?
Keirnan or Teirnan are Irish surnames used as first names.

DotDotDotDotDot · 15/01/2021 13:03

Sorry I just realised I misspelled. Should be Tiernan or Kiernan🙈

MaverickDanger · 15/01/2021 13:08
