Just that really!

What are your thoughts on the name Georgina?

And what do you think would go well as a middle name?

Thanks!

I really like it.

tinkerbell2021 · 10/01/2021 20:13

I love it. I'd consider calling a girl that if I had one.

YoniAndGuy · 10/01/2021 20:14

Quite like it. I don't love Gina or George/Georgie though really.

It's a good choice in lots of ways - classic, but never over popular, isn't totally off the wall.

SamanthaF1233 · 10/01/2021 20:15

I love Georgina for a girl!

Maybe Georgina Felicity? Georgina Marie?

Chillypenguin · 10/01/2021 20:15

I like it!

Georgina Rose?
Georgina Violet?
Georgina Mary?

BrokenCircle · 10/01/2021 20:16

I like it.

ProudAuntie76 · 10/01/2021 20:17

I prefer Georgia as it’s not quite as harsh.

SelfMadeFantasist · 10/01/2021 20:18

I like it.

For a middle name I’d choose something like Harriet or Louise.

Twickerhun · 10/01/2021 20:18

I prefer Georgia but Georgina is a nice name.

cafedesreves · 10/01/2021 20:20

Not keen I'm afraid. I don't like -ina names.

missmouse101 · 10/01/2021 20:23

Nice name. Hazel, Laurel, Faith, Holly as a middle name? Please not Rose, May, Rae, Grace...Hmm

Spidey66 · 10/01/2021 20:23

@borntohula

I prefer Georgia but Georgina is a nice name.
Same here. Georgina is a lively name, but I prefer Georgia.
finallychangedmyusername · 10/01/2021 20:32

I know an Emily Georgina, so Georgina Emily?

I slightly prefer Georgia or Georgiana (prefer the Jor-JAY-na pronunciation) to Georgina. But Georgina is nice.

Other suggestions for middle names for Georgina:

Georgina Alice
Georgina Elise
Georgina Ellen
Georgina Ivy
Georgina Lucy
Georgina Sophie
Georgina Amy

Georgina Emily or Georgina Elise are my favourites.

MargeProopsSpecs · 10/01/2021 20:34

Lovely name.

TheRedFox · 10/01/2021 20:59

Fab thanks everyone!

It's impossible to please all the people all the time but good to see it's not an overwhelming negative reaction.

Definitely prefer Georgina over Georgia and definitely not leaning towards Mae / Grace / Rose as a middle name although do think something short would fit better as it is a longer first name and we also have a long surname so could become a bit of a mouthful!

Not Georgia - totally different vibe. Georgia isn't classic and sounds 90s and dated to me.

Georgina Emma

Georgina Verity

Georgina Fleur

You need something very classic, old fashioned and gentle with it I think. Georgina does have that slightly hard edge that feminised names have, so you need something quite Austen-gentle to really complement it.

Firebird83 · 10/01/2021 21:23

Georgina is much nicer than Georgia

Georgina Faye
Georgina Blythe
Georgina Mary
Georgina Daisy
Georgina Iris

I’m another that much prefers Georgia (and Georgiana) but I see the OP doesn’t.

However I can’t let this go...

Not Georgia - totally different vibe. Georgia isn't classic and sounds 90s and dated to me.

Georgia was popular in the 90s (as was Georgina) but I strongly feel it IS a classic. Saint Georgia was from around 500AD. Georgia was a popular Victorian name. Georgia O Keefe was born in that era as was Georgia Douglas Johnson. I definitely don’t associate it with the 1990s and I see it in the same vein as Victoria, Regina, Cordelia, Josephine etc.

OP I’d keep it classic. Georgina Mary, Georgina Frances, Georgina Alice etc.

MilkMoon · 10/01/2021 21:36

Not for me. I don’t like girls’ names that sound very obviously like feminised versions of more commonly used male names — Georgina, Frederica, Thomasina, Nigella, Paula, Michaela, Roberta etc.

I’ve always thought it said something awful about Nigel Lawson that his daughters from his first marriage were called Horatia, Nigella, and Thomasina.

Sexnotgender · 10/01/2021 21:45

Irrationally hate it. No good reason.
