Stumbled across this name it means bear 🐻

I think it's the one but my OH is undecided. What do you think? 💙

As long as your surname isn't Cart

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 08/01/2021 12:50

It's not bad (in that I don't think it's teasable and Orson will fit in with all the other -son names popular right now like Harrison, Mason, Jenson Jackson etc). But I must admit I'm not that keen on the sound and many people will associate it very strongly with Orson Welles (not a bad thing exactly - he was considered a great filmmaker, but it is quite a "one person" name). Bear is a more common nn for Edward or Arthur isn't it?

maddsclairelouise · 08/01/2021 13:16

I'm really into unique names so I quite like Orson as it stands out!

BigusBumus · 08/01/2021 13:17

Mork calling Orson. Come in Orson.

PolarnOPirate · 08/01/2021 13:19

It’s certainly not unique. There were 2 at my son’s nursery, and a friend had an Orson born earlier this year. I think it’s fine but just makes me think of Orson from desperate housewives and feels a bit stuffy to me.

Lockdownlovernotfromliverpool · 08/01/2021 13:22

Nanoo Nanoo..

Rafflesway · 08/01/2021 13:28

Classy! 👍👍👍

I immediately think of the late Orson Welles. Brilliant actor!

ShalomToYouJackie · 08/01/2021 13:32

Reminds me of Desperate Housewives

BigusBumus · 08/01/2021 13:32

@Lockdownlovernotfromliverpool Are we showing our age? Lol

RaskolnikovsGarret · 08/01/2021 13:33

Reminds me of the town in The Middle!

Firebird83 · 08/01/2021 13:40

Sounds like awesome. Which isn’t a bad thing I suppose!

DueMay2021 · 08/01/2021 13:47

@PistolKnight 😂😂

@BigusBumus I don't get it 🤔

@Lockdownlovernotfromliverpool I don't get that either 😂

Also I've never seen desperate housewives

Mork calling Orsen was from the Mork and Mindy show as was nanoo nanoo. It starred Robin Williams as Mork.

DramaAlpaca · 08/01/2021 13:55

It's an exceptionally ugly looking and sounding name to me. Sorry.

DueMay2021 · 08/01/2021 14:16

@Crankley oh ok I've never even heard of it 😂😂 I guess that's a good thing in this case

Sadly missed Robin Williams... Incidently recent report on his cause of death very very sad...

Makes me think Orson Wells

I don't like it personally, but nowt wrong with it.

tenredthings · 08/01/2021 14:23

In French it's those spikey things that cling on to rocks in the sea.

CakeRattleandRoll · 08/01/2021 14:50

I really like it. Makes me think of Orson Welles, but also think Bear. Was on long list for DS, but we went with Edward nn Bear.

PolarnOPirate · 08/01/2021 15:04

Is the Edward/Bear thing just due to Teddy being a shortening of Edward? I guess that could work for Theodore too then. I don’t know why arthur would be shortened to Bear?

QuantumJump · 08/01/2021 15:06

I know one - he's called Sonny for short.

grumpypug · 08/01/2021 15:14

I can't help but say arson. I don't like it, sorry!

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 08/01/2021 15:18

I know an Orsin he is incredibly cute and everyone comments on his lovely name, he’s 6 months old.

Firebird83 · 08/01/2021 16:30

@PolarnOPirate Arthur means bear

lucieinthesky · 08/01/2021 17:12

Like it. Could be shortened to Ori or Oz.
