Dominic Cummings has ruined Dominic for me I’m afraid... but if you really like it then that shouldn’t put you off.

What about Duncan instead?

I like Sebastian, but yes it is very middle class.

Calmondeck · 06/01/2021 16:02

All three are great, I don’t think you can go wrong. Many Sebastian’s I know get Bas or Bastian (as an alternative to Seb). I’d pick Jonathan out of the three

Bangable · 06/01/2021 16:04

Dominic, Dom is nice too. Sebastian is a bit ... wankery sorry !

pinacollama · 06/01/2021 16:08

I love Sebastian.

ellenpartridge · 06/01/2021 16:11

Dominic

Wheresmykimchi · 06/01/2021 16:25

I like both.

I've only ever known one child Dominic and I really like it. Never met a Sebastien.

Firebird83 · 06/01/2021 17:49

Jonathan is much much nicer than the other two!

Ellmau · 06/01/2021 18:34

Sebastian

BinkyBoinky · 06/01/2021 18:46

Sebastian. Dominic's awful

Hirewiredays · 06/01/2021 18:49

I have a Sebastian. We call him Seb or Seba!

glas14368 · 06/01/2021 18:54

Sebastian.

Like Seb or Sebby. Don't like Dom.

Cam2020 · 06/01/2021 18:56

Dominic (it was on our list), but Sebastian is nice too.

Changethetoner · 06/01/2021 18:57

not keen on either tbh, but def not Dominic. (because of Cummings).

VenusClapTrap · 06/01/2021 19:15

I like Sebastian. Jonathan is even better.

earthyfire · 06/01/2021 19:24

Not keen on Dominic but love Sebastian

Disfordarkchocolate · 06/01/2021 19:25

Sebastian. Wonderful name.

Meredusoleil · 06/01/2021 19:35

Sebastian by far!

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 06/01/2021 23:50

Jonathan.

Sebastian and Dominic are pretentious. Also, until recently, Dominic was mainly a Catholic name, so this may be a consideration, depending on exactly where you are in Scotland. NB I'm not saying there is anything wrong with being Catholic - I was raised as one myself! I'm just saying that you might prefer not to use a name that signals being a particular religion if you live in an area where this is still an issue.

Whatthebloodyell · 06/01/2021 23:59

I have always liked Dominic, but I couldn’t use it now due to Raab and Cummings - they both make me feel a bit queasy.

MercyBodle · 07/01/2021 00:08

I like both very much, but prefer Dominic.

Wheresmykimchi · 07/01/2021 00:15

@Bruce2

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Seems quite an even split, I prefer Dominic but my husband has his heart set on Sebastian. He can't get on board with Dom and having grown up in Glasgow, the comedian Kevin Bridges done a joke about a boy called Sebastian which I can't get out of my head. It's a lovely name but I now can't think of any other boy except the one in his joke 😂

We have another few months to consider both!
Might need to go with our compromise name Jonathan instead! x

I grew up with Dominic wood and work with a Dominic and Dominica and I've fell back in love with the name (but I love an 'ic/ica' sound)

Yes I know exactly what you mean. Like being brought up in 80/90's called John Paul after the pope visited Scotland. I don't live in Glasgow anymore so don't experience any religious bigotry associated with names/what school you went to etc but I take your point :)

Both are really lovely names.
Sebastian could be Seb or Baz as a nickname, and Dominic the classic Dom, all very cute!
