What do you think of Jasper and Ralph?

And if you like these, what other names do you like?

I also like Rory but it doesn’t sound right with our surname.

Jasper sound sassy. Ralph sounds a bit wet... Nn Jass sounds cool but betcha Ralph would get Ralphie..even more drippy..

Magicbabywaves · 02/01/2021 15:47

I like both these names. Went for Rufus in the end.

Rafe
Felix
Rafferty (Raffie)

dementedma · 02/01/2021 15:53

I like Ralph but hate Rafe. Sounds pretentious.

chickensoup23 · 02/01/2021 15:53

Watching with interest! I have both of these on my list for DC2, we have one DS at the moment and he is a Rudy.

Also love Otis and Flynn

AdaColeman · 02/01/2021 15:55

I like Jasper a lot, but prefer Rafe to Ralph.
Similar names that I like are Jago, Hugo, Rufus, Darius.

Sway19 · 02/01/2021 15:55

Aw Ralph is so sweet.

Jasper is just meh

frenchtoast88 · 02/01/2021 15:58

Ralph will always remind me of the name of the boyfriends penis in Forever by Judy Bloom Grin

Rafflesway · 02/01/2021 15:58

Love Jasper!

Pugliandreamer · 02/01/2021 15:58

I love Jasper. Top of my list Grin

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 02/01/2021 16:03

Love Jasper.

Are you pronouncing Ralph as Rafe or Ralf?

finkking · 02/01/2021 16:11

Jasper makes me think of Jasper Carrot which I know is irrelevant to those born today but it personally puts me off they name.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 02/01/2021 16:13

I was wondering when Judy Blume would come up. Luckily I haven’t read it, so doesn’t put me off.

@ZoyaTheDestroyer Ralph would be pronounced ‘Ralf’.

Just my sixpence worth. I always think Rafe is odd. People assume it is Ralph but pronounced Rafe. As for Jasper? Oh Sir Jasper!! Do not touch me! (google it).

How's about a mix of the two? Rasper? It is growing on me already.

Shock
Whyistheteacold · 02/01/2021 16:23

I'm not sure why, but tbh both sound like cat names to me 😺

SionnachRua · 02/01/2021 16:25

Jasper for me, Ralph is very wet sounding.

daisypond · 02/01/2021 16:27

I’m not so keen on Jasper. I like Rafe - pronounced and written that way. Ralph could grow on me.

We've had an explosion of baby Ralph's around here lately, so if you are worried about popularity, I'd give it a swerve.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 02/01/2021 17:28

Jasper definitely of the two. I really dislike Ralph - it makes me think of the US slang for vomiting. I love pp suggestion of Rufus though.

PastaAndPizzaPlease · 02/01/2021 17:34

Jasper is fab. Ralph reminds me of Ralph wiggum from the Simpson’s

Ellmau · 02/01/2021 18:52

Jasper is a great name. Ralph is nice too.

I think they are both great. I particularly like Jasper.

I love both. I prefer Rafe over Ralph though.

partyatthepalace · 03/01/2021 13:54

I love Rory! That's a shame re surname.

Don't like Jasper much and really dislike Ralph - they both sound v wet to me. Rafe pronunciation is nice though, but think you have to spell it like that.

Like the Rufus suggestion - also Milo, Miles, Hugo, Hugh, Thomas, Lawrence, Silas, Jacob, Joseph, Reuben, Marcus, Guy...

Loushome · 03/01/2021 20:49

@frenchtoast88 Once you’ve read Forever, you can’t associate Ralph with anything else! Wink
