I like it a lot.
Not old fashioned or too modern.
Would it be short for Andrew?

BeauBeaus · 28/12/2020 22:32

@The4ks I think probably as a stand-alone name but considering either at the moment. Would be known as Drew though

I don't like it -sorry, but you did ask.

The4ks · 28/12/2020 22:39

It's perfectly fine as a stand-alone name.
Wouldn't want Andy as a shortening so safer to put Drew on the BC if that's what you want him to be known as.

Minnie6078 · 28/12/2020 22:40

Love it so cute but also a nice name to grow into!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 28/12/2020 22:41

American, to me it’s a surname but I don’t dislike it for a boy

alltheadrenalin · 28/12/2020 22:41

I love it

TildaTurnip · 28/12/2020 22:41

I see it more of a surname so no from me. However I really like Andrew!

Merename · 28/12/2020 22:45

I dislike it, but mainly because I knew someone with that name who was a creep. Feels a bit drippy though as well.

Firebird83 · 28/12/2020 22:46

Don’t like it.

Haffdonga · 28/12/2020 22:46

Great name.

MilyMoo · 28/12/2020 22:53

Awful

Flywheel · 28/12/2020 22:55

I like it a lot.

CuppaZa · 28/12/2020 22:57

I like it

Powerplant · 28/12/2020 23:00

I like it - a nice strong name

OxfordwillsaveusbyFebruary · 28/12/2020 23:00

Drew Barrymore- most well known and female

VenusTiger · 28/12/2020 23:04

It's okay - "Look darling, Drew drew a lovely picture today" - nah, gone off it now Grin

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 29/12/2020 03:03

It sounds a bit trendy to me as a given name, but is lovely as a nn for Andrew.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 29/12/2020 03:48

Makes me think of Nancy Drew - a surname.

MercyBodle · 29/12/2020 08:20

I like it.

BeauBeaus · 29/12/2020 10:10

Thank you all. Seems like a bit of a love hate here. The bonus is it is meaningful for us so maybe that's why it gets the edge. I don't know any Drew's so another bonus.

Grateful for the replies, keep them coming.

It's ok. It's very grey and dull. The sound isn't an attractive one really. Quite surnamey.

A lot of people will assume it's short for Andrew.

There's nowhere to 'go' with it - personally I like a name that can be shortened, and even better if there's more than one potential short form (eg a Charlotte could choose Lottie, or Charlie, or to use Charlotte). Drew is one of those names that there's really nowhere you can go if you don't like being Drew very much.

It's not terrible though.

FippertyGibbett · 29/12/2020 12:10

I love it.
Makes me think of Rock of Ages the film.

BeauBeaus · 29/12/2020 12:38

@YoniAndGuy totally get that, that's helpful. I have one of those names, as does DH, that can't be shortened. We both love it and it's for that reason that we don't want a name that can be shortened and potentially lose its quality, we feel. I know it's personal preferences but completely understand your point and that's really helpful

@FippertyGibbett googles Drew rock of ages
