Is it too close to Olivia? Will she have to correct people all the time?

Ellmau · 27/12/2020 17:23

She will have to correct people but I think it's worth it - great name.

yawnsvillex · 27/12/2020 17:23

I have 2 Italian friends called Livia.

Love it

Chilldonaldchill · 27/12/2020 18:00

I think it's great - I much prefer it to Olivia.
She might need to correct people the first time - but people will learn quickly.

Nell96 · 27/12/2020 18:53

I think she will end up having to correct people a lot, but then I have a DD called Nia and everyone always thinks she's a Mia! I think once corrected, people will get over it - go for it. It's quite a nice name, prefer Liv though.

ILoveStickers · 27/12/2020 18:54

I know an adult and a baby - I love it. Really nice Italian name.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 28/12/2020 00:25

Livia is gorgeous, I don't understand why it's not more popular - it's a classical name that fits all the current trends (vowel heavy, contains popular letters L and V, ends in -ia etc). I actually don't think it'll often get confused with Olivia when said aloud - like pp, sound wise I think it's more likely to get mixed up with Lydia.

Bluesername · 28/12/2020 00:48

I think it will often be mid-heard as Olivia.

Bluesername · 28/12/2020 00:48

Mis-heard

Lastbonestanding · 28/12/2020 00:51

I know a Livia. I constantly say 'it' s Livia.... no Livia... no, there is no O' when she is mentioned in conversion by almost everyone.

BlueThistles · 28/12/2020 00:51

@Sexnotgender

Sounds like Labia.
this
Squeejit · 28/12/2020 00:54

It’s lovely, but she’ll always be correcting people who think she’s called Olivia.

yuyubooboo · 28/12/2020 00:55

I love it OP. Really beautiful. Yes she will have to correct people but I would still go for it

Thisusernameistakenagain · 28/12/2020 00:55

Sounds like Labia to me too.

purplecorkheart · 28/12/2020 00:57

Sorry but I think she will spend her life explaining it is not Olivia (which is a pretty name).

baumwolle · 28/12/2020 01:08

It means envious and I associate it with 'livid' - but Lydia is nice

Bluesername · 28/12/2020 01:15

It reminds me of liver unfortunately

CorianderQueen · 28/12/2020 02:08

Try Livinia?

Pemba · 28/12/2020 11:42

It's a pretty-sounding name, but makes me think of Livia in 'I, Claudius', who went round poisoning everyone who got in her way.

Also people will always initially mistake it for either Olivia or Lydia. I'd pick one of those TBH.

Growingyou · 28/12/2020 12:50

Livia is a lovely name. You could also consider Lavinia (but Livia is perfect).

MercyBodle · 30/12/2020 08:32

Livia is lovely. And of course there will be times when people mistake it for Olivia, but I wouldn't let that put me off. I have a very popular name spelt and pronounced the usual way and people constantly misspell and mispronounce it. It's just life and I think, based on my experience, it's hard to avoid.

YoniAndGuy · 30/12/2020 10:53

Yes, everyone will assume she's Olivia... like half the population. I know several Olivias and most of them are Livvy by the time they're 7.

How about Lavinia?

QuantumJump · 30/12/2020 11:04

I like it

Poppynit · 30/12/2020 12:11

It does sound pretty but it's too close to Livial for me - a brand of drug commonly used for menopausal hormone therapy...

daisypond · 30/12/2020 12:15

I like it. It’s a much older name than Olivia.

partyatthepalace · 30/12/2020 12:21

@Northernsoullover

Beautiful but you are setting someone up with: Can I take your name? Livia. Olivia? No, Livia, no O.
This is true but it’s a lovely name so I wouldn’t let it stop me if I really liked it.

If it does bother you Lydia is nice alternative.
