I have a 19 month old boy called Ted, need name ideas for his sister.
The two names I like so far are
Elisabeth/Elizabeth
Maddison

Any more ideas for me? Smile

You have chosen very different names. I would pick Elizabeth / Elisabeth! Its a beautiful name. It goes perfectly with Ted. Its a classic name that will never go put of fashion.

Maddison is a bit of a faddy name. Not fond of it at all.

MisiSam · 27/12/2020 10:44

Love Elizabeth but it's already a close cousins middle name, do you think it would be rude to use it?

Mackenzie
Millie
Freya
Harriet
Eliza
Betsy

PreRaphaeliteMotherhood · 27/12/2020 10:54

Elizabeth/Elisabeth is lovely. I don’t think it’s rude at all to use a cousin’s middle name. And presumably she’ll go by a nickname anyway?
I like Bettie or Betsy.
You could also use:
Bessie
Bess
Ellie
Eliza
Elsa
Elsie
Beth
Lizzie
Lizbet
Liz
Lilybet
Libby
Bee
Tess
Tessa
Tessie
It’s one of those names that has about a hundred nicknames!

LittleRa · 27/12/2020 10:55

I know a Ted with little sister Maggie.

MisiSam · 27/12/2020 10:58

Yes that's what I love about Elizabeth, all the nicknames! It was my husbands grandmothers name so I thought that was a nice nod to her, but that is why the little girl already in the family has it as middle name so I'm not sure if that might offend? I'm not sure!
Lots of great ideas here thanks guys I shall show my husband later.
He is useless at names!

Elizabeth is lovely and goes perfectly with Ted.

I don't think it's a problem that it's a relative's middle name.

I'm not as fond of Madison.

Some other ideas:

Catherine
Charlotte
Philippa (Pippa)
Sophie
Annabel
Clara
Antonia
Isabel

Whatsyourflava · 27/12/2020 11:49

Elizabeth is perfect, much nicer

Madeline
Audrey
Clementine
Verity
Eliza
Margaret Maggie
Jemima

MisiSam · 27/12/2020 12:05

Seems Elizabeth is a winner, my husband prefers Elspeth /Elsbeth but I find that hard to say, I'm not as well spoken as him so it's sounds silly when I say it Grin

I wouldn't let it worry you that another family member has Elizabeth as a middle name.

MisiSam · 28/12/2020 06:23

We are going with Elisabeth! I'm going with the s spelling because I'm trying to avoid the nickname Liz as all I can picture is Lix Mcdonald 😂

If you want to avoid Liz you need to shorten it yourself early on - Beth, Elsie, Elsa...

Goodbye2020Hello2021 · 28/12/2020 06:29

Betty

MisiSam · 28/12/2020 06:35

I reckon she will end up liz 😂 all. Those nicknames and I bet that's the one that will stick.

Beautiful name @MisiSam

emmathedilemma · 28/12/2020 09:22

Eliza rather than Elizabeth? Or Elsie if you find Elspeth a mouthful.
Definitely not Maddison!

IckleBear · 28/12/2020 22:11

Ted and Margot

NaToth · 28/12/2020 22:15

Helen, known as Nell

Ted and Nell

partyatthepalace · 28/12/2020 22:20

Elisabeth is lovely.

Liz is a much less common nickname than some of those mentioned these days so you probably be fine.

Buffy is another one.

SnowyOwlWan · 28/12/2020 22:27

I like Beth. Ted and Beth would be lovely.

Not a fan of Madison.

Mumoftwoinprimary · 28/12/2020 22:31

I went to school with an Elisabeth - she was known as Liz!

Elizabeth (Libby for short) was on our list for Dd. It is a lovely name.

Just get in quick with the shortening you like best!

BabyItsAWildWorld · 28/12/2020 22:41

Elizabeth is beautiful.
Hold out for the full version.

Even if friends later on call her Liz she can always be Elizabeth at home and as an option professionally.
It's such a lovely name.

cecinestpasunepipe · 28/12/2020 22:45

I have grandchildren, brother and sister, Ted and Elsie. To me their names go together perfectly, but they would, wouldn't they!!
