Guessing game V!

Merry twixmas! Xmas Grin

We have reached thread 5(!) of the baby names Guessing Game.

This was the (brilliant) brain child of @scotstar back in March 2018. Smile

All are welcome, rules of this game are pretty straightforward - someone describes a name. Whoever solves the clues is then in charge of describing the next name. Simple! Make the clues as fiendish or straightforward as you like. Grin

Robin? I'm struggling hugely with this one!

DuggeeHugs · 03/02/2022 18:51

Sorry, cross posted.

Victor?

Ellmau · 04/02/2022 00:39

No and no.

Name is a bit dated now, but more recent than those two.

Also a surname.

DuggeeHugs · 04/02/2022 09:51

Bruce?

finallychangedmyusername · 04/02/2022 13:15

Seamus?

OP posts:
Ellmau · 04/02/2022 19:55

No and no.

finallychangedmyusername · 08/02/2022 22:07

Hurley?

OP posts:
Ellmau · 08/02/2022 23:56

No.

I didn't think this would be so hard.

273 = 0.

finallychangedmyusername · 09/02/2022 06:53

I think I might finally have it.... Grin Kelvin?

OP posts:
Ellmau · 09/02/2022 08:16

Yes! Well done @finallychangedmyusername!

Ellmau · 09/02/2022 08:21

Dancing: Kelvin Fletcher's stint on Strictly. Rural: his role in Emmerdale (fiction), and his new TV series about moving to the country (fact). New adventure is the title of that show.

Absolutely frozen: the Kelvin temperature scale is known for Absolute Zero. I also dropped in zero somewhere. And the one that swung it, the conversion factor is 273:1.

Tool: there's a sort of tool called Kelvin.

Scotland: Kelvingrove in Glasgow. North of England Emmerdale again.

Irish: Originally Irish, I think.

Ellmau · 09/02/2022 08:21

Oh, mate of boats: the name's meaning derives from boat friend.

finallychangedmyusername · 09/02/2022 20:05

Great one @Ellmau! I'll have a think about the next one....

OP posts:
finallychangedmyusername · 09/02/2022 20:33

This one is possibly a bit easy, here you all go!

In the DNA of this Shakespearean leading lady is a blooming lovely name.

OP posts:
finallychangedmyusername · 13/02/2022 10:34

Another clue needed?

It's a "horsey name".

OP posts:
Ellmau · 13/02/2022 10:59

Rosalind.

finallychangedmyusername · 13/02/2022 21:45

You got it @Ellmau, Rosalind!

DNA - Rosalind Franklin
Shakespearean - Rosalind in As You Like It
Blooming - "rosa linda" meaning "beautiful rose" from the latin
Horsey = from hros meaning horse (in the Germanic roots of the name)

OP posts:
Ellmau · 13/02/2022 23:41

I got it from the first clue but after all the agony over Kelvin I didn't want to set a new name: )

I'll have a think for a new one.

finallychangedmyusername · 14/02/2022 10:36

@Ellmau, I really enjoyed your clues for Kelvin. Was definitely a thinker!

OP posts:
Ellmau · 14/02/2022 18:47

A beautiful lady from South Africa.

DuggeeHugs · 15/02/2022 18:48

Amelia/Amalia?

Ellmau · 15/02/2022 19:03

No, but there are letters in common :)

DuggeeHugs · 16/02/2022 09:37

Malia?

Ellmau · 16/02/2022 10:44

No.

It's a very pretty name, some would say frilly.

finallychangedmyusername · 16/02/2022 22:24

Araminta?
