We are stuck on names. DH loves Elise - I do too. But I really want Heather, after my mum..
which would you choose?

Heather!

Elise

Prefer Elise though Heather Elise or Elise Heather also works well. We did relatives names as middle names.

Won't it get confusing if all the females are called Heather? Though I guess it makes it simple for your DH just calls Heather. Smile

Name changed for this. My name is Heather and I love it! As you know, as it is is your name! I have always liked my name. Very hard to make fun of too. Kids may try but all they can think of is 'Heather light as a feather' which isn't really insulting!

Its not too common, but not too weird, a classic and won't badly date like all the Yoonique names will. You never have to spell it out to anyone. It's the perfect name.

Pick Heather - its great! I am glad its my name. Three cheers to my parents.

Calluna or Erica Wink

AnitaHotdog · 23/12/2020 20:17

Heather

frogswimming · 23/12/2020 20:17

Both nice!

goldenzog · 23/12/2020 20:17

I love Heather! It brings up beautiful imagery in my mind. It's unusual but everyone knows it's a name which is the perfect combo.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 23/12/2020 20:25

Can you not have Elise Heather? That's pretty, and I wouldn't use Heather as a first name if it's your first name too (and your Mums!) - much too confusing, as it's not a name there are lots of nicknames for to help differentiate between you.

MimiDaisy11 · 23/12/2020 20:25

I vote Heather as it's not common now and there are lots of names like Elise - even though that's a nice name too.

doctorhamster · 23/12/2020 20:28

I prefer Heather but I do think it's a bit odd to name your child after yourself these days. I know it's after your mum, but everyone will think you've given her your name.

sobsanta · 23/12/2020 20:30

Elise with Heather as a middle name. Having Heather Jr just seems really odd.

Nell96 · 23/12/2020 21:36

I like both names, but if your name is Heather and your mum's name is Heather, call her Elise. You can use Heather as a nn. Personally I'd hate having the same name as my mum, it'd make me feel like less of an individual. It just seems quite unimaginative to me.

Not nn, I meant middle name! 🤦‍♀️
Littlemissnutcracker · 23/12/2020 21:40

I think she should he Elise Heather as it is very confusing to have mum and daughter with the exact name. I should know Grin

Whatsyourflava · 23/12/2020 21:54

The Heather at my school got called Heffer/heffa

I like both names though

diddlediddle · 23/12/2020 21:57

Heather would be a gorgeous middle name, use Elise as the first. Your baby will have her own identity whilst still having a close tie to you and your mum.

nevereverplease · 23/12/2020 22:03

Love the name Elise a lot - does remind a bit of the sports brand Ellesse though for any 80s babies who remember it?!

MummaBear4321 · 23/12/2020 22:05

My DD (who is 2) is Heather so I am biased 😊

yelyah22 · 23/12/2020 22:05

Heather. It's a beautiful name and won't date as much imo!

Warminstermum · 23/12/2020 22:08

I’d not use Heather, it’s slightly dated now and it seems a bit odd in 2020 to name a child after yourself. Let her be independent

TreacleHart · 23/12/2020 22:08

Heather is a great name. Elsie is getting very popular, I know of a few born this year. Nothing wrong in that, but I think Heather is nicer by a mile.

Indiethecat · 23/12/2020 22:10

Elise is a gorgeous chic name and has a nice European feel.
Heather on the other hand is frumpy and dull and I just think of brown
