I'm not pregnant, but I've been discussing names with dp.

I love love love "Atlas". Dp likes it, but doesn't love it. He also thinks that potential kid wouldn't like it either Xmas Sad

Any fans? Xmas Smile

No.

DeadSouth · 19/12/2020 20:41

I love Atlas

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 19/12/2020 22:05

Lovely but brave. It would be a guilty pleasure name for me (so only in the middle name spot in reality) - I think you'd have to move in particular arty or upper class circles to easily get away with using it as a first name.

CandyLeBonBon · 19/12/2020 22:07

If you had a sibling, you could call them Hercules!

toastofthetown · 19/12/2020 22:36

I’m not a fan of Atlas. It’s far too trendy for me; Atlas has gone from completely unranked to 100 babies name that in the last ten years. That being said, it’s completely irrelevant what anyone on here thinks about it if your partner doesn’t like it.

Firebird83 · 19/12/2020 22:37

I love it but my DH also said no.

Opticabbage · 19/12/2020 22:44

Love it but don't like the story of atlas for a kid

Enough4me · 19/12/2020 22:51

I taught a Thor many years ago, he cringed everytime he had to say yes to the register. Poor kids with these pet names!

Captainj1 · 19/12/2020 22:52

@CandyLeBonBon

If you had a sibling, you could call them Hercules!
Or encyclopaedia 😃
Cam2020 · 19/12/2020 22:57

It wouldn't be my choice but I wouldn't think anything in particular if I met someone called Atlas, there's certainly nothing wrong with it.

Fancycrackers · 19/12/2020 22:58

Big fat no

GruffyLove · 19/12/2020 23:00

What about Athos or Apollo?

CatRamsey · 19/12/2020 23:01

It's a guilty pleasure of mine! I love it but not sure I'd be brave enough to use it!

user1493242132 · 19/12/2020 23:06

Hercules is better!

udnertheradar · 19/12/2020 23:08

Love it!

Reallynotavailable · 19/12/2020 23:15

It's a fantastic name but too risky that the child won't suit it. It's such a 'big' name and would be odd on a person who's very shy or reserved.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/12/2020 23:17

Any fans?

No, but a big paperback road atlas wafted about works pretty well.

TheNanny23 · 20/12/2020 08:32

I like it but it’s a bold choice.

For a similar start but not the mythology association- Atticus?

VenusClapTrap · 20/12/2020 11:36

I don’t like it.

upsidedownroundabout · 20/12/2020 11:38

It's too much. I like the actual sound of the word but the meaning is too too heavy for a child.

Littlefoxy · 20/12/2020 17:13

Love it so much and expecting a boy. But I think it’s too brave for us. Considering Atticus.

MrsGrindah · 20/12/2020 17:15

And his sibling...Ayterzed.

PussyMalanga · 20/12/2020 17:45

It's a bit "Tarquin and Jocasta".

WomanWithAnX · 20/12/2020 20:57

Awwwwwww Xmas Sad

I was hoping for overwhelming support so that I could show the there'd to dp and make him change his mind

I like it, unusual but nice.
