What are your opinions on the name Shiloh and do you prefer it as a boys or girls name?

It makes me think first of the American Civil War, and then of the Bible. Not crazy about it as a given name unless one of those has a personal resonance for you, and even then I think it better for a middle name.

Because I live about 20 miles away it reminds me of the place Silloth .

I like it as a girls name. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have a teenage dd named Shiloh.

Since Shiloh's last name is Jolie-Pitt, that's not true.

I've always presumed you pronounce it shy low with the emphasis on the shy part.
There's a Neil Diamond song called Shilo.

To me it makes me think of the Shoah this is such an awful association I can't understand why anyone would use it but I get it's my association and won't be others.
