Baby girl name - which one?

Baby girl due in Jan. We love long names that can be shortened to lots of different nicknames, currently torn between Genevieve and Dorothy.
Currently have a Josephine, what do people think?

I think Josephine and Genevieve are a bit of a mouthful.

Josephine and Dorothy sound lovely together.

CantStopEatingPie · 12/12/2020 20:02

Josephine and Genevieve feel a bit OTT together so I'd go with Dorothy. Although they're all a bit rhymey.

JingleJohnsJulie · 12/12/2020 20:04

I love them both. What would you be using for short?

FippertyGibbett · 12/12/2020 20:06

I went to school with a Dotty - Dorothy.

SugarCanes · 12/12/2020 20:07

I prefer Genevieve

ArmchairCritics · 12/12/2020 20:07

LOVE Genevieve, and think it goes well with Josephine.
Strongly dislike Dorothy. I went to school with one and always thought her name was so very twee.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/12/2020 20:11

Dorothy

CantStopEatingPie · 12/12/2020 20:17

Changed my mind:

I prefer Genevieve. Just think it's a bit much with Josephine.

Cam2020 · 12/12/2020 20:20

I prefer Genevieve but agree its too much with Josephine. I don't like Dorothy or any of its derivative forms.

Peachbubble · 12/12/2020 20:21

I'd choose Genevieve.

Orangedaisy · 12/12/2020 20:24

Dorothea nn Thea?

Kayjay2018 · 12/12/2020 20:27

@MummyJune2017 I have a Genevieve, we fell in love with the name fairly late on in pregnancy (didn't know what we were having), it already is shortened to Gen or Vivi. We love it and get lots of comments on it being a lovely name (of course they could just be saying it to be nice)

SionnachRua · 12/12/2020 20:28

Genevieve is lovely. Dorothy is very twee.

GintyMcGinty · 12/12/2020 20:32

Genevieve

LilacSloth · 12/12/2020 20:35

Genevieve is lovely. Vivienne or Madeleine sound nice with Josephine too.

Margo34 · 12/12/2020 20:37

Dorothy.

springdale1 · 12/12/2020 21:02

I’ve met three baby Genevieve’s at my 6 month old daughters various baby classes recently if that’s the type of thing you are concerned about! Same for lots and lots of Willow’s and Lyra’s!

TomorrowsPrincess · 12/12/2020 21:14

We have a Francesca, who we call Frankie

Whatsyourflava · 12/12/2020 21:22

Dorothy by a mile and more

Chilldonaldchill · 12/12/2020 21:23

Dorothy.
Genevieve is too much of a mouthful with Josephine.

AltJ · 12/12/2020 21:25

Genevieve has too many 'e's, it looks messy.

Dorothy is awful.

Any others on your list?

If you like three syllable names..
Imogen
Violet
Annabel

Spied · 12/12/2020 21:27
