This is on my list too, but it's just interesting to know what people think! :)

It's very pretty, a little on the frilly side but a nice enough name.

neonjumper · 11/12/2020 23:48

Lovely name ... two of my friends share this name ... both Jewish .

Victoria489 · 12/12/2020 00:31

Each to their own, but I'm not a huge fan. In my opinion, it sounds rather americanised, and a bit try-hard. Overly frilly I think, not very professional. Depends on what you're going for I suppose Smile

JamieFrasersSwingingKilt · 12/12/2020 00:43

I know an Eliana. She's an attractive, very strong and sassy musician in her 70s. Also Jewish.

Aliferous · 12/12/2020 01:44

Beautiful name!

ZadieZadie · 12/12/2020 02:13

I know a fantastic (very professional, senior lawyer) Eliana.

I find the idea that 'frilly' names aren't professional somewhat misogynistic.

butterry · 12/12/2020 02:17

I know one who has French parents. She goes by Ellie mostly. Shame she’s the most obnoxious, badly mannered child I know but the name is pretty!

scrivette · 12/12/2020 04:47

I think it's a very pretty name, there is one at school and every time I hear it I think how pretty it sounds. It has a lovely meaning as well if I recall correctly!

MikeUniformMike · 12/12/2020 12:51

Not keen. It's just another Ellie name. I'm not keen on the -iana names, although I do like Diana.

SaraSara12 · 12/12/2020 12:52

Love it

Twinkie01 · 12/12/2020 12:55

It is really lovely. I would worry she'd have to spell it out to people all the time though.

elp30 · 12/12/2020 13:00

My 19-year-old daughter has a name that is pronounced exactly like that but starts with an "I".

It's not a common name but it's a name and spelling seen in Latin America (my family is Mexican).

The name "Eliana" is heard most commonly in Italy and Romania.

Obviously, I think it's a lovely name OP.

ILoveStickers · 12/12/2020 13:20

I know a very nice one who's Italian. She's a senior academic, not frilly at all. I quite like those Italian names that come from Roman names.

SendHelp30 · 12/12/2020 13:22

Beautiful name. There’s an Eliana in DDs class and she’s a lovely child.

RightOnTheEdge · 12/12/2020 13:28

It's a pretty name. I know an Eliana who is Brazilian.

Pieceofpurplesky · 12/12/2020 13:30

Lovely name. I also like Liliana

custardbear · 12/12/2020 13:37

Lovely, I prefer it with an I rather than an E

BewareTheBeardedFatMan · 12/12/2020 13:42

Beautiful

HakunaMatatas · 12/12/2020 13:43

I'm an Ellie and find it rather delicious that mumsnetters and the like are bored to death of my common name. There's something quite attractive about it. Like being a Mary in the 1800s. It gives me a sense of union and peasantry and the fact that it doesn't have roots like Mary makes it even worse (better). 😱😂
Love Eliana!

CherryBlossomTree7 · 12/12/2020 14:15

Not my cup of tea at all.

Very frilly and almost seems made up. I agree with a pp that it sounds Americanised

TheDaydreamBelievers · 12/12/2020 14:25

Reminds me a bit of Game of thrones but v pretty (and not a bad GOT character!)

Chilldonaldchill · 12/12/2020 17:30

I know three. One is 18, one 15 and one 5.
I'm not a huge fan but it's ok.

RuthW · 12/12/2020 17:54

Absolutely love it. I love any 'arna' names.

SionnachRua · 12/12/2020 20:30

Don't like it. Feels like it has too many syllables and there's the potential for it to turn into Ellie. Apologies to pp but Ellie is one of the most generic, unimaginative names out there atm!

JanewaysBun · 12/12/2020 20:58

I like it, not keen on the nn tho.
I thought it was Spanish?
