Struggling with girls names - DD coming next week!

DD due next week. I've had a few threads about names. DH and I have really struggled to find a name we both love that we think goes with our surname. Here is our list of potential names. Would love to know what you think or whether you have any other suggestions.

Middle name and surname will be Elizabeth Rodgers

Amy - currently our go-to but neither totally love it
Robin/Robyn - Love this but Robyn Rodgers - is it nice or awful?
Laura - Love this too but Laura Rodgers is a bit of a mouthful to say outloud
Jennifer - Like Amy, its nice enough. We both prefer Yennefer but we are not that cool
Kathryn -One of DHs favourites after Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek - I am less convinced and not a fan of Kath as a nick name
Jasmine - One of my favourites but DH less convinced.

We are trying to avoid names that sound too "dainty" as DH and I are both pretty tall so she is likely to be tall too!

Charlotte, if it feels too dainty she can be Charlie.

AlwaysLatte · 11/12/2020 22:58

How about Lorna Rodgers ? Not so R'y!
Another name that jumped out at me was Sofia. I'd probably be more leaning toward that.

User0ne · 11/12/2020 23:00

Can't you just wait until you meet her and decide then? You have loads of time to register the birth so plenty of time to decide.

5% of gender scans are incorrect so that might solve the problem for you.

Thanks all for your thoughts. It's so hard, we both want to love the name we pick otherwise feels like a disservice to DD. DH has thrown Frances into the mix as a maybe. It has a really nice family connection, but on the fence about the name itself.

I think we may just have to wait until she arrives!

I saw another reply on here suggesting Ingrid. Love that, perfect with the other names.

InTropicalTrumpsLand · 11/12/2020 23:17

I second Astrid and Ingrid!

I'd also like to suggest Caroline (after seeing the Carol suggestion), as well as Ada and Ava if you like Amy, as I think those are are less dainty.

Also, maybe:
Beatrice
Lucy
Naomi
Victoria
Zoe

SqueakyCaterpillar · 11/12/2020 23:23

If you like Frances then how about Francesca? It’s my middle name and I love it . There’s Frankie or Cesca for short

BeanieB2020 · 12/12/2020 00:43

I love Robyn and I think Robyn Rodgers is a solid name.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/12/2020 01:03

Robin Elizabeth Rogers is gorgeous. (Very Christmassey)
Also love Amy. My sister is Aimee and I have always been jealous that she got the pretty name.

Other ideas
Jessica Elizabeth Rogers
Chloe Elizabeth Rogers
Zoe Elizabeth Rogers
Megan Elizabeth Rogers
Stephanie Elizabeth Rogers
Hayley Elizabeth Rogers.

Or how about a Christmas themed name.
Natalie/Natalia Elizabeth Rogers
Christina Elizabeth Rogers
Gabriella Elizabeth Rogers
Nicola Elizabeth Rogers
Noella Elizabeth Rogers
Maria Elizabeth Rogers
Eve Elizabeth Rogers

Gherkin32 · 13/12/2020 12:14

I wish I was called Robyn RodgersSmile! Love the names together xx

YoniAndGuy · 14/12/2020 19:26

Amy - Amy Rodgers is SO BORING. There is just zero personality there.

Robin/Robyn - Love this but Robyn Rodgers - is it nice or awful?
Terrible! Don't.

Laura - doesn't work with surname

Jennifer - Hmm, ok. I don't like Jen. Josephine? Jojo Rodgers/Josie Rodgers are both good.

Kathryn - I love Katherine better, not really a fan of this spelling.

Jasmine - actually like it, works well with surname.

Overriding thought: Rodgers is a very hard, plain sounding surname. I get the tall thing, but I think the best kind of name to complement it would be pretty, have some delicacy.

Ellmau · 15/12/2020 23:03

Julia
Alexandra
Miranda
Stella
Isabella
Chloe
Clarissa
Marianne

Heartofglass12345 · 16/12/2020 18:36

I definitely think Francesca if he likes Frances, it's like a more updated version lol. I like Eva I think that goes nice with Rodgers

florascotia2 · 16/12/2020 19:17

It's all a matter of individual taste, so I am NOT being judgemental, but why would anyone want to substitute Francesca for Frances.

Frances is an absolute classic. Francesca - unless you are Italian - is a rather frilly modern version. Likely to date, like Isabelle rather than Isabel - unless you are French, of course.

All are nice names, whatever the spelling.

lilly2000 · 16/12/2020 19:32

Jennifer Elizabeth Rodgers is perfect I think!

YoniAndGuy · 16/12/2020 20:10

But Jen Rodgers sounds like she works in the bakery and has lived in the same road since 1964.

YoniAndGuy · 16/12/2020 20:12

Rodgers is TOO PLAIN, too Coronation Street, too hard to take an unfussy classic name I think. It's got to be a little bit unusual or pretty to balance it out.

Francesca Rodgers
Josephine Rodgers
Arabella Rodgers

all those names work - and Ari, Josie, Francie Rodgers are all good.

Jen Rodgers
Amy Rodgers
Laura Rodgers

are all just too depressing for words.

JamesMoriarty · 16/12/2020 20:18

Jennifer should stay in the 80s. I love Frances!

Cotswoldmama · 16/12/2020 20:29

A few another's suggested Lauren, that's my name and I really like it. It also doesn't get shortened although I do have a nickname as my sister couldn't pronounce it when she was little!

VenusClapTrap · 17/12/2020 09:28

I love Frances. Detest Francesca though!

Whatthebloodyell · 17/12/2020 09:35

Katherine with nn Kate or Katie
Josephine nn Josie or Jo
Eloise nn Lou
Naomi

danascully96 · 18/12/2020 15:05

I love Laura and really like Jasmine. Jasmine might by my fav with your last name! It’s uncommon, cool, and beautiful :) I don’t like “Jazz” as a nn, but I think that can be avoided.

Julia is a great suggestion I saw above! Also, Charlotte nn “Charlie” is just fab 😍Unfortunately, I’m not keen on Amy or Jennifer.

Name suggestions:

Willow Rodgers (if she’s not willowy, will this be an issue?)
Susannah Rodgers (nn “Suki”)
Maria Rodgers (I love musical names 🎶 and Maria sounds lovely with Rodgers)
Cecily Rodgers
Ava Rodgers
Natalie Rodgers
Anna Rodgers (I love the nn “Annie”)

SpilltheTea · 18/12/2020 22:00

Jasmine is lovely
