Struggling with girls names - DD coming next week!

DD due next week. I've had a few threads about names. DH and I have really struggled to find a name we both love that we think goes with our surname. Here is our list of potential names. Would love to know what you think or whether you have any other suggestions.

Middle name and surname will be Elizabeth Rodgers

Amy - currently our go-to but neither totally love it
Robin/Robyn - Love this but Robyn Rodgers - is it nice or awful?
Laura - Love this too but Laura Rodgers is a bit of a mouthful to say outloud
Jennifer - Like Amy, its nice enough. We both prefer Yennefer but we are not that cool
Kathryn -One of DHs favourites after Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek - I am less convinced and not a fan of Kath as a nick name
Jasmine - One of my favourites but DH less convinced.

We are trying to avoid names that sound too "dainty" as DH and I are both pretty tall so she is likely to be tall too!

I really like Robyn but not so much with Rogers.
How about:
Katya
Clara
Leah
Martha
Thea
Victoria (going the whole Royal)
Christabel
Marina
Anna

I like Robyn, there is nothing wrong with alliteration, in fact it sounds cool.
Not keen on Laura, very dated and doesn't flow.
Amy is ok
Kathryn is one of my least favourite of the classic names personally
Jasmine is lovely.

I would choose Robyn or Jasmine. It sounds like you love Robyn so I really wouldn't let alliteration put you off, don't choose something you find a bit meh just so it 'goes' better.

For some reason Robyn Rodgers just makes me think of Rockin Robin!!!

I’m a December baby (just before Christmas) and my mum has always wished that she called me something Christmassy like Mary. While I am glad she didn’t call me that particular name, something festive would’ve been rather nice

How about
Ivy
Eve
Noelle
Angelica (Angel)

Probably outing if you know, but I really wanted Eira for my DD which is Welsh for snow. Her DF said that was ridiculous as she was born in April and refused to even acknowledge it as a choice Grin She’s called Kayleigh, but Eira for a winter baby would be perfect (pronounced Eye-rah)

OnlyToWin · 11/12/2020 19:53

What about Alice Elizabeth Rodgers?

angelaEhen · 11/12/2020 19:57

From your list Amy

If I had a girl I was going to call her Florence Elizabeth

twinketoes · 11/12/2020 19:58

I love Robyn or Jasmine but none of the others

MoonMallow · 11/12/2020 19:59

I like Jennifer best from your list.

When I read your middle and surname out loud the first name that popped into my head was Charmian/Charmaine. Make of that what you will!

MikeUniformMike · 11/12/2020 20:02

Amy - dislike Ames. Know too many Amys to say yes.
Robin/Robyn - not with the surname
Laura - a bit of a mouthful. Helen or Julia might be alternatives. Would suggest Lauren but I dislike it. Laura is lovely though.
Jennifer - fine
Kathryn -could be Kate or Kitty as a nn. I think Cathy is due a comeback, so Catherine might be an alternative.
Jasmine - lovely

bitheby · 11/12/2020 20:04

Kat is a better nn for Kathryn.

Quercus3 · 11/12/2020 20:04

Hi OP, we are also likely to have a tall, possibly not very dainty baby and this is our list!

Robyn
Lois
Nina
Rose
Josephine
Ingrid
Iris
Eliza
Connie

I like Robyn with your surname, it's memorable :)

RealisticSketch · 11/12/2020 20:05

I like Jessica Rogers. 🙂

notyetamumbuttrying · 11/12/2020 20:07

You can do Kathryn and her nickname could be Kat! @Waffleblock that's what my friend Katherine does by Smile

I think Kathryn is more likely to be Kate, all the Kate's I know are really cool.

MessAllOver · 11/12/2020 20:12

All of your choices (except Jasmine) strike me as very solid, sensible names. I don't love any of them and they're not "in" right now, but I think they're all good, semi-traditional choices which you wouldn't regret. I like Kathryn best, personally.

Based on your choices so far, I might consider the following:

  • Romilly
  • Megan
  • Althea
  • June
  • Helen or Helena
  • Margaret
  • Christina
  • Sophie
  • Clemency
  • Rebecca
  • Charlotte
  • Alice
JamesMoriarty · 11/12/2020 20:13

I love Amy and it goes well with Elizabeth.

JamesMoriarty · 11/12/2020 20:14

I do also like Jasmine and Kathryn. I know an 8 year old Kathryn but she's always been known as Kate.

KateF · 11/12/2020 20:23

As a Catherine Elizabeth I vote for that (and I have never accepted Cath as a shortening)! If she's born on the 16th we'll share a birthday!

I also like Robyn and Jasmine.

ArosAdraDrosDolig · 11/12/2020 20:47

Eira for a winter baby would be perfect (pronounced Eye-rah)

It’s pronounced Ay-ra
It’s like Ava with an r sound not a v.

Not an ah sound but a hard a like apple.

So Ay as in Hay
Ra as in rabbit.

Ay-ra

Parker231 · 11/12/2020 20:51

Catlin
Bethany
Zara
Freya
Vanessa

Aerielview · 11/12/2020 20:52

Amy Elizabeth Rodgers sounds lovely op

grandmasterstitch · 11/12/2020 22:42

What about Ginnifer instead of Jennifer? I'm totally stumped on a name for DD too so I'm reading these suggestions with interest!

Firebird83 · 11/12/2020 22:47

I really like Jennifer

Yennefer19 · 11/12/2020 22:50

I really like Kathryn from your list, she could be Kate or Katie rather than Kath.

You could have Natalia which means Christmas.

Carouselfish · 11/12/2020 22:53

Dana
Lana
Jemima
Kristen
