Esme or Felicity?

We are very torn between Felicity and Esme for our baby girl due in the new year.
Any opinion? :)
Our surname is short (one syllable).

Felicity with a one syllable surname is lovely

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 11/12/2020 00:12

If you like both equally then I'd use Felicity - it's a classy name (makes me think of Felicity Kendal) and is less popular than Esme. Esme (whilst lovely) also has spelling and pronunciation issues that Felicity avoids.

I agree; felicity

DramaAlpaca · 11/12/2020 00:14

Felicity

BillieBlack · 11/12/2020 00:42

Definitely Felicity

calimommy · 11/12/2020 00:56

Both are lovely. Felicity if I'm pushed. 👌

BreakfastOfWaffles · 11/12/2020 00:59

Esme gets my vote

prairiegirl81 · 11/12/2020 01:02

I think Felicity is a beautiful name, and would choose it over Esme.

gillybombilly · 11/12/2020 01:05

Felicity is fabulous.

Newnewnewbuild · 11/12/2020 01:06

Felicity Smile although I do like esme when pronounced ezmee

MrsTerryPratchett · 11/12/2020 01:27

Esme.

I always worry about serious, unsmiling Felicities. Calling someone 'Happy' does rather smack of 'smile love'.

MercyBodle · 11/12/2020 05:13

I like both but prefer Felicity and find it more timeless. If you have a short surname then Felicity is ideal.

PlantPotting · 11/12/2020 07:36

Felicity gets my vote but both lovely

Roselilly36 · 11/12/2020 07:38

felicity, my favourite girls name.

Magicbabywaves · 11/12/2020 07:48

Esme. But I really like Felicity too.

ILikeStrongTea · 11/12/2020 12:51

Felicity.

Not a fan of Esme and it’s also quite popular where as Felicity is more unusual which is lovely, and has better nicknames.

Nell96 · 11/12/2020 13:56

Esme - although it's more popular. Felicity always sounds a bit horsey to me.

CatteStreet · 11/12/2020 14:01

Felicity is much nicer. And (AFAIK) it doesn't mean 'happy' so much as 'good fortune', which I think it a lovely name to give to a baby :)
