Rupert Grint just used Wednesday, what are your thoughts on days of the week as names?

Monday would be unusual I think, but I don’t mind Sunday as much

PaperScissorsRock · 04/12/2020 19:44

Wednesday would work with siblings named Pugsley and Pubert.

ImAKaren · 04/12/2020 19:47

Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at a pinch. I don't think the others work at all.

reefedsail · 04/12/2020 19:48

I'll see you next, Tuesday.

KylieKangaroo · 04/12/2020 19:48

I like Tuesday, but would have to be born on a Tuesday!

june2007 · 04/12/2020 19:50

Wednesday Adams??

mistermagpie · 04/12/2020 19:50

I feel like you would have to have been born on that day for it to work but I quite like Sunday for a name.

Krampusnacht · 04/12/2020 19:52

My real name is a day of the week and I love it. And no I'm not saying which one 😂

KyraGoose · 04/12/2020 19:54

Same for months of the year.. some work, others not.

Hi December, how's things?

Nikhedonia · 04/12/2020 19:54

Thursday and Saturday seems pretty odd as names

merlotormalbec · 04/12/2020 19:55

An old friend of mine was called Tuesday. It actually really suited her

merlotormalbec · 04/12/2020 19:55

She was born on a Saturday

sunshineandshowers40 · 04/12/2020 19:57

Tuesday and Wednesday work IMO maybe Sunday?

Nell96 · 04/12/2020 19:58

Terrible - there are so many fab names out there, days of the week are just confusing and don't even sound nice. Also not a fan of months, with the exception of May.

Matilda03 · 04/12/2020 20:01

Fern McCann has a daughter called Sunday which I quite like actually.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 04/12/2020 20:01

I read a book when I was young about a girl called October.

My dd was due in September but was born in October. Would have named her that if I’d known.

She would have hated me.

HappyPotato · 04/12/2020 20:02

I really like Tuesday as a name!

Alexandernevermind · 04/12/2020 20:03

I don't like them as they don't mean anything as stand alone names, it just seems odd and dull to name your child after a day.
The origin of the names are much more interesting on their own, and somehow sticking the word day on the end spoils the names.
Sunday and Monday are named after the sun and the moon. The following 5 days are from the Gods.
Tuesday comes from Tiu, or Tiw, the Anglo-Saxon name for Tyr, the Norse god of war. Tyr was one of the sons of Odin, or Woden, the supreme deity after whom Wednesday is named. Similarly, Thursday originates from Thor, the god of thunder. Friday is derived from Frigga, the wife of Odin, representing love and beauty. Saturday comes from Saturn, the ancient Roman god of fun andfeasting.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 04/12/2020 20:03

I think you could get away with Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly Sunday.

For months there's obviously April, May & June. I like January.

MikeUniformMike · 04/12/2020 20:15

Saturday could have some interesting nicknames.

Calmondeck · 04/12/2020 22:03

Please don’t do it. I have a senior colleague with a day name and the amount of times people will say things like “let’s make it Tuesday. Tuesday on Tuesday”. She grits her teeth.

pinbinpin · 04/12/2020 22:07

I think Tuesday and Wednesday at a push do and maybe Sunday (Nicole Kidman's kid) but the others don't, for some reason.

FromABook · 04/12/2020 22:12

Monday - nope
Tuesday - yes
Wednesday - yes
Thursday - nope
Friday - nope
Saturday - nope
Sunday - hmmm...maybe

(My opinions only! Given how high on G&A I was, I'd probably have considered any of them in the early moments though. In hindsight, I'd not use any)

(Liking the name January though... but Jan...)

Isadora2007 · 04/12/2020 22:22

Sundae?
Tuesday sounds nice but looks horrible to me.
Wednesdays child is full of woe so no from me.

ExitChasedByAnImposter · 04/12/2020 22:26

I wonder if the senior colleague is the old friend of @merlotormalbec 🤔
