Rupert Grint just used Wednesday, what are your thoughts on days of the week as names?

A friend of mine is called Keane, which means born on Saturday

Tootsietoot · 04/12/2020 22:29

Kwame not Keane!

GU24Mum · 04/12/2020 22:29

I worked with someone with a day as her first name and a month and number as the middle names......

InTheNightWeWillWish · 04/12/2020 22:40

@PaperScissorsRock

Wednesday would work with siblings named Pugsley and Pubert.
Grin

I quite like the name Wednesday but I’d hope she’d be like Wednesday Addams. It would be awkward if she turned out to be more of an Amanda...

NeurotypicalPrivilege · 04/12/2020 22:41

I think fine but spelling should be marginally altered

Mundae
Tewesday
Whensdsy
Thor
Frychingching
Saturn
Sunster

I’m biased though as these are my septuplets names.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 05/12/2020 01:32

No - while I've heard of both Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday used as (rare) first names, I don't think it's worth the inevitable teasing/comments/suprised looks everytime someone hears her name for the first time.

merlotormalbec · 05/12/2020 08:45

@ExitChasedByAnImposter I don't think so, this girl is quite work shy! It was confusing when I would say I'm seeing Tuesday on Saturday 😂

LemonDrizzles · 05/12/2020 17:17

There was the Golden globe winning actress Tuesday Weld - but Tuesday was not her birth name

LemonDrizzles · 05/12/2020 17:18

Wow what a rabbit hole, just read Tuesday Weld was married to Dudley moore for a time....

Unicant · 05/12/2020 17:22

I really like days as names. I also like months and seasons as names. I dont know if I'd be brave enough to name my child a day name... I really pushed to name my daughter a more unusual month name but my dh wouldn't stand for it lol

Sexnotgender · 05/12/2020 17:24

I know a Sunday, she really suits it.

MimiDaisy11 · 06/12/2020 14:27

I hate Mondays Wink

I read that it used to be more common to use days on the weeks as names in the medieval ages, which is interesting. I can't say any strike me as great names but some are better than others. I think Sunday could be cute but it also makes me think of Sundae ice creams Smile

Inkpaperstars · 11/12/2020 04:11

Imo, no.

Alotlikechristmas · 11/12/2020 10:02

Not for me, no. I like months derivatives like Maya, June, Julia, and also Summer, but days of the week - I wouldn't use them as a dc's name.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 13/12/2020 18:47

Saturday could have some interesting nicknames.

If you like day-of-the-week names, what about Tamara?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 13/12/2020 18:49

How about Dinah-Mo? Dynamo is the only single-word anagram that can be made from any of the days of the week.

Daphnise · 13/12/2020 21:50

They don't work at all.

JohnMiddleNameRedactedSwanson · 13/12/2020 22:26

I know a very lovely Tuesday.

QueenoftheIceAge · 13/12/2020 22:36

www.fridaylawrence.com/ I think it works - great jewellery too.
