Had previous thread a while back but due date is getting nearer and me and OH are down to the last two but struggling to decide between them. Really just want to feel certain with one now so can give him/get used to a name. Just wondering which people prefer and why to help me see how I feel. Older sibling called Josie.

Harry
Jamie

Harry

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 28/11/2020 22:05

I prefer Harry, it’s a lovely classic name. Jamie is not bad but Josie and Harry sound better than Josie and Jamie.

Sparkles512 · 28/11/2020 22:06

Harry!

paganbilly · 28/11/2020 22:06

James nn Jamie

Henry nn Harry

I prefer James.

Awrite · 28/11/2020 22:08

Harry. By some way.

100percentpeachynessa · 28/11/2020 22:09

Jamie! You don’t hear it so much nowadays. Harry is a bit more generic to me, when you hear the name Jamie it has a bit more character to it. Love the name josie btw x

formerbabe · 28/11/2020 22:09

Jamie definitely...but I'd put James on the bc.

Jamie and Josie sounds cute

skankingpiglet · 28/11/2020 22:11

If it has to be those two, then Harry. Jamie is too similar to Josie.

There is a good chance of having another Harry in his class once he starts school - would that bother you? Both my DCs have 2 of a particular name in their classes. In DD2's class they are referred to by the name + surname initial eg Dave T and Dave K,which wouldn't bother me if I was their parent. However, in DD1's class they are known (by the kids and by extension the parents, not the teachers obviously who use the previous differentiation) as Naughty Keith and Good Keith... I definitely wouldn't be happy if I was Naughty Keith's parents!

SylvieSangFroid · 28/11/2020 22:11

Harry

Raffie13 · 28/11/2020 22:16

Harry

Firebird83 · 28/11/2020 22:17

Jamie

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 28/11/2020 22:28

Like a pp, I only like Jamie as a nn for James and Harry as a nn for Henry. As given names, nicknames ending in an "ee" sound always sound a little childish to me for some reason. But if I had to pick, then Jamie (Harry just seems very popular now).

Christmasbiscuit · 28/11/2020 22:30

Harry. Jamie and Josie are too similar.

Rtmhwales · 28/11/2020 22:39

Jamie. I have a James nn Jamie, surprisingly don't hear it at nursery or the park.

Livpool · 28/11/2020 22:43

Harry is a lovely name

RoseMartha · 28/11/2020 22:46

I prefer Jamie

ArmchairCritics · 28/11/2020 22:48

Jamie

SleeplessWB · 28/11/2020 22:52

I like Jamie but perhaps it is a bit similar to Josie. How about Harry James?

Smellbellina · 28/11/2020 23:00

James, but he might choose a different nickname to Jamie, happened to my friend.

Smellbellina · 28/11/2020 23:00

Josie and Jim!

daisypond · 28/11/2020 23:13

They are too nicknamey for me, so neither. But Jamie and Josie are too similar, so go for Harry.

MrsMarrio · 28/11/2020 23:51

Just go with the two names, decide what fits him more once he's been born.

SkiingIsHeaven · 28/11/2020 23:52

Keep both names and then see which one suits him when he is born. That's what we did.

emilybrontescorsett · 29/11/2020 00:06

Harry. Jamie is too similar to Josie.

DramaAlpaca · 29/11/2020 00:51

With a Josie already I'd pick Harry.
