heyy, which combination do you like the most? Im using the name Maureen after my mom. I like June and April both. What do you think?

DramaAlpaca · 24/11/2020 20:18

I like June better.

SSW101 · 24/11/2020 20:20

I think they are both lovely. Perhaps a slight preference for June

doctorhamster · 24/11/2020 20:22

I prefer June too

ShesMadeATwatOfMePam · 24/11/2020 20:24

June Maureen sounds like an 80 year old. April is much better.

ButterflyBitch · 24/11/2020 20:24

April. June Maureen is just too old lady for me. April Maureen is a bit quirky. Like it.

sakura06 · 24/11/2020 20:26

April Maureen as June Maureen sounds like an elderly lady. I really like the name Maureen! Lovely to honour your mom.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 24/11/2020 20:27

Lovely to give her your mums name as a middle. Of your first name choices, I prefer April, I think (June seems slightly dated to me, although I like the similar Jane).

If you are going for month names though, I definitely like May as a first name best - very classic. And May Maureen actually sounds pretty cool - the double M gives her some cute nn options - like Mamie ("may - mee") or Mimi.

CuppaZa · 24/11/2020 20:27

June Maureen sounds really old

lookingatthings · 24/11/2020 20:30

I really like the name April. Also agree with pp about May. Not so keen on June though.

PiccalilliChilli · 24/11/2020 20:31

Averil?

"It's June, dad"

Donnaj28 · 24/11/2020 20:33

What do you mean?😅

I dislike both, but April is better. June sounds very old lady. How about Juno?

jambeforeclottedcream · 24/11/2020 20:52

Agree with pp June Maureen makes them sound about 90 years old. I marginally prefer April.

StrawScarecrow · 24/11/2020 20:52

Does it not depend on when she is born?

I have an Aunty May whose birthday is in January and it's really confusing.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 24/11/2020 20:53

Oh god not April. I've known two and both had to put up with Ape jokes.

MeMeMeYou · 24/11/2020 21:16

I love the name April

emwithme · 24/11/2020 21:34

I used to work with a lady called May who had daughters called April and June. It was her poor son, September, we all felt sorry for

I agree that most April's are likely to have been born in April; but June likely became a popular name as much because of the popularity (at the time) of the similar sounding Joan/Jane, as because it's also a month name.

May is completely different - it became popular centuries ago because it's both a flower name (same as Lily, Rose etc) as well as a popular nn for Mary and Margaret, so it wouldn't be odd for a girl called May to be born in a different month.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 24/11/2020 22:14

"It's June, dad"

Grin Grin Grin

Maybe she'll grow up to develop an obsessive liking for parsnip jam, free pens and receiving other people's post Grin

marly11 · 24/11/2020 22:16

Agree that June Maureen sounds so old. I wouldn't choose that.

Svalberg · 24/11/2020 22:57

Our next door and next but one neighbours are called Maureen & June, neither will see 70 again! And I worked with an April who must be about 55-60 now - have the names come round into fashion again?

SilkieRabbits · 24/11/2020 23:08

I like the name Avril less keen on April and June I view as an elderly name, same as Maureen. Avril Maureen is OK.

Yennefer19 · 24/11/2020 23:29

I think I prefer April with Maureen, however June is less popular which I do like in a name.
