Thought on the name Amber?

Sorry I’ve posted here so many times I love that I get completely honest opinions.

I’m expecting a little girl and so far on the list of names me and DP loosely agree on are Hazel and Amber. I love Hazel and he loves Amber but we don’t completely hate each others choice which is why they’re on the list.

I think Amber is pretty, from what I know it’s not common for babies at the moment but I’m just not sure.

Would love to know what others think.

Funnily enough both Amber and Hazel were on my "final 5" list when I was having my little girl earlier this year. Absolutely love them both!

@CrasterKippers I hope you don’t mind me asking but what name did you end up picking out of your list? I’m just hoping if someone has similar taste there might be a name out there we’ve not considered yet 😂

Love the name Amber. Hazel is nice too, but Amber would be my choice

I used to know an Amber as a teen. Lovely name.
The only Hazel I’ve know was a mid 60 year old with Graves’ disease so had bad eyes. Sorry, I’m with your DH.

I like both names and when I heard them Scarlett also popped into my head for some reason?

I think out of the two, Amber as it’s a softer and smoother sounding name.
Also I have noticed Hazel seems very popular right now (this might not bother you) but I think there’s going to be a lot of Hazels about in the next few years.

The only Amber I have ever met was a lovely little girl. I like Hazel too.

I love Amber, I only know a grown up Amber she's mid 20's and absolutely lovely

I've got an Amber, we loved the name and she loves it as well, one of her last presents was an amber necklace. I don't know of any others her age (she's 7) so we're happy to have not gone for a common name.

Amber is pretty but to be honest I think it's dated, it's quite a 90s name to me. Very nice name though.

I prefer Hazel, I just love it.

I’ve always liked Amber, but was at school with one (I’m 30) and it seemed dated even then. Still like it though. MUCH prefer Hazel although I know loads of a baby Hazels!

Also like Heidi! The others on the list aren’t the same style/vibe.

I really liked Hazel when we had DD2 but DH didn’t like it. The only Ambers I know are mid-30s. My vote would be Hazel!

Amber is a beautiful name. Really pretty and suits all ages.
I'm not so keen on Hazel.

DS1 would have been Amber if he was a girl.

I'm biased because DD is Amber (she's 30 now) but I chose it because I think it's a pretty name, but not a flowery one.
I also had the idea that it couldn't be shortened and didn't have an obvious nickname, but she's been Bambi or Bam to most of her friends since she was about 5!
I do like Hazel too , though!

@PolarnOPirate I love Heidi but my friend has a Heidi so can’t go on my list. I love that sort of vibe though.

I really like pretty names that aren’t frilly (DP loves Arabella, it’s a no from me as it’s too frilly). I’d love something that wasn’t common but not strange. I’ much prefer picking boys names!
