We can't decide on a name!

Our list is :
Archer (but I worry it would be shortened to Archie)
Hunter
Axel/Axl (my worry is people think of car parts but I do love the name)
Xander
Leo (DP really not that keen, says its more of a dogs name?)
Orion (DPs choice but I worry it could be too out there and get shortened to Ryan)

Middle names will be old fashioned family names if that matters at all.

DC1 has quite a unusual name, similar in sound to Noah but is a unisex name.

We are really stuck this time round.

Archer (but I worry it would be shortened to Archie) - it will get shortened to Arch, which is an adjective. I dislike it.
Hunter - ok. Hunting isn't all that popular with the general public. Wellington boots.
Axel/Axl (my worry is people think of car parts but I do love the name) - fine. Might get spelt Axle
Xander - not keen. Makes me think of zander, so a bit too fishy.
Leo (DP really not that keen, says its more of a dogs name?) - nice but popular
Orion (DPs choice but I worry it could be too out there and get shortened to Ryan) - Oh Ryan. A bit try-hard. Ford Orion.

I'm not keen on surnames as first names, but from your list I'd choose Leo or Hunter depending on the surname.

I like Archer and Xander

Archer - tbh prefer Archie
Hunter - like it
Axel/Axl - getting more common makes me think of the car part
Xander - love this ✔️
Leo - cute but quite basic
Orion - bit out there

I'd say Orian as an Orry-an (like lorry) rather than O-ryan.
I'm really not a fan of names like Archer, Axel and Hunter, they're a bit red neck American for me.
Leo is cute and Xander isn't too bad but I'd use Alexander as his full name.

The only one I like on that list is Leo. Xander is the next best.

I love Axel and Leo.

Orion sounds too like onion to me

I think Xander is a fab name and will go lovely with an old fashioned middle name.
But not to worry when your little one is born a name will come to mind when you set your eyes on them.

If you like Archer what about Asher? Similar sound but it avoids Archie as a nickname if you don't want that. It's an old testament name but has a modern feel.

Leo is my favourite from your list. I know several, all human. I like Xander too but would probably put Alexander on the BC if it were me.

I really like Leo, possibly Xander but I would prefer Alexander as full name and then nickname.

Axel is better than Axl in terms of spelling. I think be forever having to explain that it's not a typo for Alex.

Archer and Hunter are nice. Not keen on Orion.

I really like Leo, like Xander, quite like Axel (but would sing GnR songs at him all the time). The others aren't names I'd choose myself, but none of them are hideous!

Axel Orion or Xander are great imo

We wouldn't use any names on BC then call them a nickname if that makes sense. I'm not a fan of shortened names, which is my worry with Archer - I'd forever being tell people to call him Archer not Archie.

Our first has name that is related to the stars as well so that wouldn't bother us. Any suggestions on other names going by what's on our list, anyone?

I see lots of people like Leo, I do aswell, I love it actually, but DP is not keen. We know a Leon so wouldn't use that. Help me swing him on Leo lol
