Lyra is my favourite. Lyla/Lilah is also lovely.

Agree with others that Luna is now really overused as a dog name.

Llyr is a boy's name.

I loved Lana until someone pointed out what it spells backwards... it was a strong contender until that point

Lara or Lyra

PP has mentioned awkward backward spelling of Lana...very popular in Ireland, also means wool in Italian which I just can’t get out of my head

I have met a few Lunas - the human and the canine kind. Again too close to looney - doesn’t sit right with me

Lana or Luna for me. Don't like the others

Lyra

I know an Alannah who goes by Lana for short. Don't like it on it's own really.
I'm a teacher and we have all of these in our school atm. All lovely names!

Lara

Lana is my favourite, the rest are too popular for me except Lena but I'm not so keen on that.

I love Lara. I can hear it now, being said in Omar Sharif’s adoring tone. Doctor Zhivago made it seem so fabulous. And the accompanying music, Lara’s Theme, is just lovely too.

Lara is the only one I’d consider .

I have a Lara! Dr Zhivago for me, Tomb Raider for DH. We have a mixed marriage

I liked Lyra but my OH also said it was too close to Lycra. I’d have said Lana sounded nice until someone once pointed out it was anal backwards! Lara is lovely. Not keen on Luna.

I have a DD called Lana- I still love her name 14 years later! If not Lana , I would pick Lara out of your list.

Also she has never had issues at school with her name spelt backwards.

Lara - beautiful name and I once taught the most fabulous Lara so it has good associations for me,

Lyra is my favourite, followed by Lara. Luna and Lena nice.

Lana is nice but spells anal backwards so I would avoid for that reason.

I mean God spells dog backwards and we don't have a problem with that. Rae is ear. Raj is jar. Etc. Can't worry about that kind of thing.

I prefer Laura.
