I like it.

ImaSababa · 24/10/2020 20:04

Not keen! Too close to "rude". When I was young, we used "rudies" to mean sex

Katgolde · 24/10/2020 22:27

I don't like it either. When I was a child a 'rudie' was a fart.
Lemonsyellow · 24/10/2020 22:35

Not keen. I like Rudolf though. It’s good short for that. Not as a full name.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 24/10/2020 22:39

I love it. Are you thinking for a girl or boy?

Gooseygoosey12345 · 24/10/2020 23:26

Love it!

Whatthebloodyell · 24/10/2020 23:27

Love.

BeMorePacific · 24/10/2020 23:39

I love it xx

Batfinklestein · 24/10/2020 23:46

I know a Rudy who is about 5. He’s ace, so it’s a yes from me!
I think it’s unusual, cool, and will work for a grown up, unlike a lot of similar but more cutesy -ie or -ey ending names which are popular now like Albie and Archie and the like.

TheShapeJaper · 24/10/2020 23:46

Awful

coffeeandrainbows · 24/10/2020 23:53

Here in NZ I have only met girls named Rudy (2 under threes) and no boys if that makes any difference for you.

coffeeandrainbows · 24/10/2020 23:53

Should add that I really like it for a girl

troph · 24/10/2020 23:57

May grandma used to go 'roody doody' when I was a little girl and she was getting me dressed and then tickle my belly x

Pemba · 25/10/2020 00:58

No because of the unfortunate closeness to the word 'rude'. In a non-English speaking country it's probably fine.

Pemba · 25/10/2020 00:59

And why would anyone name a girl this when there's the option of Ruby?

MercyBodle · 25/10/2020 01:09

I like it, but because of its closeness to word rude I wouldn't use it. There are thousands of names, so I wouldn't want to choose one which has such obvious potential to make the wearer uncomfortable.

FerrisB · 25/10/2020 06:56

I know an adult Rudy. He's great. I like the name.

Yamaya · 25/10/2020 07:01

I worked with a Rudy once. I always thought the name was ridiculous and couldn't take it seriously (sorry!)

FippertyGibbett · 25/10/2020 07:01

I like it 👍🏼

fieldofwheat · 25/10/2020 07:05

Love.

MikeUniformMike · 25/10/2020 07:05

A message to you, Rudy.

I quite like it but it is too close to Rude.

Omeara · 25/10/2020 07:09

Reminds me of Gavin & Stacey. I don’t mind it but don’t really like it either.

chickensoup23 · 25/10/2020 07:11

I love it! I'm biased as I have a 2.5 year old Rudy. He's amazing and we get loads of compliments on his name! X

iloveyoubutilovememore · 25/10/2020 07:14

Thanks all - I like it for either sex.
