We are having a girl and have a list of names we need to whittle down.
I do quite like "unisex" names,; we also have an Irish connection so some of the names are a nod to that.
Please give me your thoughts on the below list!

Quinn
Cora
Coralie
Robyn
Aeryn
Farah
Felicity
Rowan
Aine (awn-ya)
Fallon
Darcey

Just Rowan

custardbear · 23/10/2020 23:43

Robyn

EasternDailyStress · 23/10/2020 23:45

Rowan, Robyn or Cora.

ExemptFromMasksSupporter · 23/10/2020 23:45

Congratulations, I hope all goes well.

These 3 are nice IMO
Felicity
Cora
Coralie

Sorry but I’m not so keen on these!
Robyn
Aeryn
Farah
Rowan
Aine (awn-ya)
Fallon
Darcey
Quinn

Kanaloa · 23/10/2020 23:46

Quinn - reminds me of quim, not keen
Cora - pretty and classic, like it a lot
Coralie - like it but prefer Cora as a bit simpler
Robyn - nice and solid
Aeryn - I would prefer Erin
Farah - not keen, seems a bit 80s
Felicity - very pretty
Rowan - nice, seems a bit boyish though
Aine (awn-ya) - not keen on the sound or spelling
Fallon - reminds me of Jimmy Fallon, don't like
Darcey - pretty and wearable, like this

Takethewinefromtheswine · 23/10/2020 23:48

Some of them are very 80s Americana. If I had to pick one, probably Robyn.

TildaTurnip · 23/10/2020 23:49

Quinn - too visually similar to quim
Cora - I like it
Coralie - prefer Cora
Robyn - Too masculine sounding
Aeryn - ok
Farah - no as too associated with one person
Felicity - really like this and it’s diminutives
Rowan - only know male ones so no
Aine (awn-ya) - like this
Fallon - really dislike. Felon and Talon pop into my head
Darcey - Arsy

acerred · 23/10/2020 23:49

I like felicity best. Like a pp said all the Rowan's I know are male.

Kimblebee19 · 23/10/2020 23:50

I like Cora and Aeryn.
Personally not as keen on Coraline, but since you are you could have that as full name and shorten to Cora, then its a bonus two in one!

DramaAlpaca · 23/10/2020 23:51

Felicity is lovely.

I like Áine too, but if you are in the UK nobody will be able to pronounce it properly - everyone will say 'Onya'.

Kimblebee19 · 23/10/2020 23:52

*Coralie not Coraline, sorry, half asleep...

jemimafuddleduck · 23/10/2020 23:55

Loving the feedback so far, lots to think about so thank you!

Oneandabean · 23/10/2020 23:57

I like Cora, Aine and felicity. Not a fan of anything else, also see Rowan as boys name

TildaTurnip · 23/10/2020 23:58

Oh I do like Coraline though to shorten to Cora!

MikeUniformMike · 24/10/2020 00:00

Quinn - looks like quim
Cora - removes middle bit of an apple
Coralie - corally
Robyn - not my taste
Aeryn - too similar to Erin, which I'm not mad about
Farah - arabic name. will get misspelt
Felicity - too prissy
Rowan - ok but so many similar boys' names
Aine (awn-ya) - you had to spell out the pronunciation, so prob a PITA
Fallon - ok, a bit 1980s
Darcey - dislike

Not keen on any of them. I think I'd pick Fallon but it makes me think of a fairly recent Secretary of State for Defence.

sukieinthegraveyard · 24/10/2020 00:06

Robyn, Rowan and Coralie are beautiful names for a girl imo

sukieinthegraveyard · 24/10/2020 00:10

We considered Rowan for a girl;. We chose an Irish name for our daughter instead, but still love Rowan. Like Willow but stronger sounding

MartiniDry · 24/10/2020 00:38

Cora and Robyn for me.

TabithaMeow · 24/10/2020 06:24

Love Quinn, Robyn and Coralie!

Wishingstarr · 24/10/2020 06:28

Please not Rowan.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 24/10/2020 07:39

The only one I like is Darcy, but I would spell it like that. You probably wouldn't have liked most of the names in my list. Showing my age but Fallon will always remind me of Blake Carrington's daughter.

jemimafuddleduck · 24/10/2020 08:04

Thanks everyone.

It's interesting hearing people's different perceptions. I'd never heard of the word Quim and had to google it!! Likewise I've never heard of any of the people associated to Fallon that some of you have mentioned.

I get the pronunciation issues with Aine, and that's one of the things that makes me hesitate about it.

I know a couple of female Rowans and see it as a really strong (but not overly masculine) name.

FluffyEggsontoast · 24/10/2020 08:25

Quinn - no opinion
Cora - love it
Coralie - love it
Robyn - nice
Aeryn - ok
Farah - nice
Felicity - love it
Rowan - very popular in 2020 and still rising fast. I do prefer this name for a girl but there's so many boys called Roman now it does blend in a bit. Hate nickname Row.
Aine (awn-ya) - no opionion
Fallon - awful.
Darcey - love it

PlantPotting · 24/10/2020 08:37

Love Coralie, Cora, Felicity, Farah and Darcey

Coralie might be a good one as you could nickname it to Cora and get best of both worlds

Felicity is lovely and I love the nickname options

Rowan is my baby daughter's name so like you I see it as a girl name. I hadn't realised when I picked it that Roman with an M is the fastest rising boy name. There's 2 Roman's, 1 Rowan (and a Reuben) in her small local nursery and I can tell people get confused. I really hate being asked "how are you spelling Ro_an - is it with an M W or H?". People shorten her name to Row already by accident which I dislike

SplitEndsNHairyLegs · 24/10/2020 09:43

Love Robyn and Farah. I think Farah is my favourite. It’s beautiful. And I always thought I’d like to be called Robyn myself. Grin

Really like Aine and Cora for their simplicity. Fallon and Felicity are both pretty names.

Not keen on the rest. Aeryn and Quinn are awful.
