Pretty much decided on Posie if baby is a girl but we are completely stuck for a middle name... does anyone have any suggestions? I quite like Posie Annabel but I’m not sure?! Thanks xx

First daughter gets your granny's name for a middle name.
Posy feels more natural spelling

LouiseTrees · 21/10/2020 22:11

I was also going to say Posy is the more natural spelling and whether you can use Annabel depends on the first letter of your surname. Remember about initials spelling words! Both names are lovely. However for me Posie (much as it could refer to a lovely flower) reminds me of Posey ( as in look at her she’s posing a lot, she’s posey).

Thanks for the feedback, I just love the ie spelling.... my grandmas name is Elizabeth, does this work? X

Posie Elizabeth has a lovely ring to it

Audreyseyebrows · 21/10/2020 22:16

I love Posie! And the spelling! Posie Elizabeth is beautiful although not heard of the first girl= grandmother’s name thing.

Blondefirsttimemum · 21/10/2020 22:16

I’ll also ask just incaseGrin does anyone think the name posie is rediculous? I’ve had a few comments that it’s silly and won’t work on an adult but I love it and tbh think it will fit in with all the unique and cutesy names people are giving their children these days! X

Rosie - rhyming is just too cute.

MJM1608 · 21/10/2020 22:17

My MIL is called Posie - I love the name! It’s actually her middle name on the BC and first name is Ruth which I think goes well! Xx

Wolfff · 21/10/2020 22:18

Have you read 'Ballet shoes'?

SBTLove · 21/10/2020 22:19

Flowers 🤣

ladybird69 · 21/10/2020 22:19

Rosie! You’re going to call her Posie Rosie even if you give her a different middle name.

Bvop · 21/10/2020 22:21

It’s a beautiful name, and so is Elizabeth.

user1493494961 · 21/10/2020 22:21

I think it's awful. Introduce yourself as Posie for a few weeks and see what reaction you get.

Blondefirsttimemum · 21/10/2020 22:23

Can I ask why you think it’s awful? I genuinely want feedback as I’m naming this baby for life! X

It’s a beautiful name!

GorgonzolaSouffle · 21/10/2020 22:23

I think it’s cute for a little girl but any older.....not for me....

Plus although I have never used it ever......posie is also what some call girls vaginas. 🤢🤢🤢

Sorry.

Blondefirsttimemum · 21/10/2020 22:24

If it helps to know my style.. we’ve decided on Albie George for a boy! X

I know a Posie Primrose. I think it's really pretty.

DramaAlpaca · 21/10/2020 22:26

Posie is a bit twee and cutesy, sorry. It's a bit better spelled Posy as in Ballet Shoes. I wouldn't want to be called Posy/Posie to be honest.

Posy is traditionally a diminutive of Josephine.

micc · 21/10/2020 22:31

Its sweet, I can imagine the name on any age though. I agree Posie Elizabeth sounds really lovely. :)

mysteryfairy · 21/10/2020 22:31

Posie is a lovely name but I’d be tempted to use Josephine, also a great name, on the birth certificate. Normally I’d say use the diminutive as the full name but honestly I think there are circumstances where Posie might be hard to pull off.

Blondefirsttimemum · 21/10/2020 22:35

Sorry i just don’t like Josephine!Blush my other options are Hattie, Piper, indie, Everly, Poppy and Annabel! Do people prefer any of these? X

Meepmeeep · 21/10/2020 22:37

Posie certainly the most unique out of your choices. The others are all pretty popular at the moment.

AntiHop · 21/10/2020 22:37

Since you asked, I do not like it. Sounds too twee, and like a nickname not a proper name. I agree with the idea of having fullname Josephine, then use posie as a nickname. That gives her options as she gets older.

Voice0fReason · 21/10/2020 22:37

Not a fan, and Posie Rosie is just too awful for words.
I would see it and think it was Rosie that had been misspelt.

There aren't any names that everyone is going to like.
If you pick a quirky name then some people will hate it.
I'm glad I don't have a quirky name, I wouldn't have given one to my children. Some people love having one. I wouldn't have taken the risk of them hating it.
