Pretty much decided on Posie if baby is a girl but we are completely stuck for a middle name... does anyone have any suggestions? I quite like Posie Annabel but I’m not sure?! Thanks xx

Posie Betty
Posie Betsy
Posie May
Posie Bonnie
Posie Hattie

misstiggiwinkle · 21/10/2020 22:47

I know a Posie, she is actually Poppy Rose on her BC but Posie to everyone. It's gorgeous and if my MIL wasn't called Poppy I'd consider it for my dd (not a MIL fan!)

QuimReaper · 21/10/2020 22:49

@Wolfff '...unfortunate but true' Grin

Please don't go with another -ie name as middle name per star's wish, that would definitely sound ridiculous!

honey7 · 21/10/2020 22:51

Posie Annabel is lovely

TH22 · 21/10/2020 22:51

@Blondefirsttimemum

I’ll also ask just incaseGrin does anyone think the name posie is rediculous? I’ve had a few comments that it’s silly and won’t work on an adult but I love it and tbh think it will fit in with all the unique and cutesy names people are giving their children these days! X
I absolutely love this name, as does my family. However, my husband said the same thing - that Posie won't fit in a serious environment. I think he's wrong mind...
BabyYoda · 21/10/2020 22:58

I was worried about the “need a professional long version of the name” until I met a Dr Rosie when was in hospital. She was a consultant.

Posie is lovely.

Bid876 · 21/10/2020 22:59

I like Posie or Posey however you spell it. I also like Posy Elizabeth. I’ve not heard of the naming a first daughter after a grandmother as a rule but I have both my grandmothers names as middle names and my eldest daughter is name after one of my grandmothers, because well she was the best and I never even considered another name x

Ignore what other people say or think, if you live it go with it, there are far worse names people give their poor kids.

I had people ask me if I was joking with 2 of my DDs names, some even thought I was making DD#2s name up. I didn’t care, I love them and they suit their names x

Peasbewithyou · 21/10/2020 23:06

I do like Posie / Posy but like others I worry that it might not be “serious” enough as it sounds more like a nickname. I think all of the other names on your list are lovely although less keen on Indie and Everly.

Middle name-wise I think Elizabeth is great. Also a single syllable name would work well like Posie Anne.
For some reason Posie Marie also keeps popping into my head.

Gemma2019 · 21/10/2020 23:32

Posie is awful - it probably used to be a nice enough name but nowadays it just sounds like posey - derogatory and meaning pretentious. It is not a good idea for a name. Plus you will get a lot of people writing it down as Rosie.

TinaTraybake · 21/10/2020 23:42

I really like it

Not sure. But make sure it’s a good one/one you like as that’s what they’ll be using when they’re older

lobsteroll · 21/10/2020 23:50

Love Posie but like others, would spell it Posy if it was me.

Hattie is lovely but I would give Harriet as a full name and then Hattie as nickname.

Annabel is a gorgeous name

Poppy is really nice too

Indie is nice but I prefer India

Piper and Everly are very American to me; not that that matters, but they aren't my style. but if someone introduced themselves as either name, I'd think - that's pretty

MegaBloxRoxx · 22/10/2020 06:27

Since you have asked for honest opinions, I have to say I think it's a horrible name. Sorry Blush

It's twee and it makes me think of a 'poser' (an insult thrown around at school to anyone outside of the popular clique that had made the slightest bit of effort with their appearance).

My suggestions are Rosie Elizabeth or Poppy Elizabeth

Ilovewillow · 22/10/2020 06:42

I love Posy not Posie so much (none of my business though). My son was going to called Posy Florence if that helps at all.

remaininshroud · 22/10/2020 06:50

Sorry OP, but saddling someone with the name Posie (or Posy) is unfair. An adult woman wouldn't be taken seriously with such a cutsie, twee name! IMO

CeeceeBloomingdale · 22/10/2020 06:52

@Wolfff

Have you read 'Ballet shoes'?
My first thought too!
Bool · 22/10/2020 06:57

Choose the name you love. If you love Posie then go for it. It reminds me of Posie from the Flumps but then I am old!!! She was super cute! But then I also love names like Tabitha and Tallulah. Really if you love it go for it. Don’t opt for something more boring, you will regret it.

puddlesuit · 22/10/2020 06:59

It's not a name I have heard before but I love it. I think Posie Elizabeth is lovely. I don't get all this use a proper name on a bc so they have choice as they grow up.

Thymeout · 22/10/2020 07:04

What if she doesn't turn out to be a dainty, flower-like little thing?
It's a difficult name to carry off if you're not.

EmpressJKRowlingSpartacus · 22/10/2020 07:27

I love it and tbh think it will fit in with all the unique and cutesy names people are giving their children these days!

While I loathe cutesy names as a rule, my immediate association with Posie is Posie Parker. And there’s nothing cutesy about her.

MamaMoonbeam · 22/10/2020 07:31

Posie Anne
Posie Sue
Posie Clementine
Posie Amaryllis
I think it needs a one or more than 2 syllable name. Personal pref though!
Have fun choosing 😊

MamaMoonbeam · 22/10/2020 07:33

All the people saying Posie is cutesy and not fit for a grown woman- what about Rosie? I know a few women called Rosie and noone bats an eyelid...

RickOShay · 22/10/2020 07:36

I like Posie but prefer it spelt Posy.
Annabel and Elizabeth are both lovely, I also thought of Valentine.

Posy is a small bunch of flowers. Posie reminds me of poser Grin
Don’t know why it makes a difference but it does
