So while wandering home from work today exhausted and aching the name Carrow came into my head.
I’m not 100% on it but just wondering if anyone knows if this is an actual name or have the past two weeks of working every day frazzled my brain.
How would you spell it and do you think more girl or boy?
P.S please be nice, I think I’ve gone beyond baby brain and it’s now just mush.

Caro is just a NN for Caroline or Carol, I don't think it works very well as a name in its own right.

McWeedie · 17/10/2020 18:34

Caro is the nickname for Caroline

Oneandabean · 17/10/2020 18:35

@ErrolTheDragon really? I’ve never heard it as a nickname for Caroline or carol.
I did a quick search for Carrow and it comes up as a boys name, both old English and Cornish origins.

Caro is Caroline

Carrow Rd is where Norwich City play football

KitMarlowesCodpiece · 17/10/2020 18:39

Caro is a girl (Caroline)

Carrow is a brother/sister pair of Death Eaters in Harry Potter

TooMinty · 17/10/2020 18:40

What about Carys instead? For a girl.

Parkandride · 17/10/2020 18:41

The carrows were death eaters in Harry Potter!

Oneandabean · 17/10/2020 18:43

We have our girls name picked already. Ah Harry Potter, that’s probably where I got it from. My brains so fuddled lately. Was interesting to find out that it is a legitimate name though, I’m not totally mad 😂

I also never realised caro was a nn for Caroline. All the ones I know are Carrie or Caz

I am not so keen sorry. It reminds me if the word carrion.

SionnachRua · 17/10/2020 18:46

I know a Caroline nn Caro, so that's what I think of. Or as pp said the Death Eaters.

It's ok like but I think you could find nicer names.

Ewanispurple · 17/10/2020 18:47

I was going to say it's a nickname for Caroline too! Do you like Taro?

ErrolTheDragon · 17/10/2020 18:48

Do you like Taro?

It's a root vegetable. (Never tried it)

Oneandabean · 17/10/2020 18:50

The first thing that came up when I searched it was that it’s Cornish origin which as I have no Cornish ties probably makes it a bit unusable.
Thanks anyway everyone 😊

So you need a boys name? Callum? Callan? Kieran? Carey?

Oneandabean · 17/10/2020 18:57

@TooMinty not a fan of any of them. Thanks though

Carrow feels like a surname

Caro (female) short for caroline.

I like Carys / Karys for a girl

RusholmeRuffian · 17/10/2020 19:00

I'd think of Norwich City's ground.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 17/10/2020 19:01

Theres also Cato (roman boys name)

TooMinty · 17/10/2020 19:07

Hmm, struggling to think of names for a boy that are like Caro...

Arran
Struan
Rohan
Ruaridh

biteysaurus · 17/10/2020 19:08

I've never heard of it before, but I absolutely love it. Boy's name imo.

MuserOwl · 17/10/2020 19:10

Carro is spanish for truck/wagon or cart.

I l8ke Caro short for caroline though.

Like caro or Cali

AuntieStella · 17/10/2020 19:16

Caro is nn for Caroline

Carrow is either a male death eater or Norwich City FC home ground. Not a name for a girl

SionnachRua · 17/10/2020 19:46

@ErrolTheDragon

Do you like Taro?

It's a root vegetable. (Never tried it)

You should! Make yourself some Bua Loi (Thai dessert). You won't regret it.
Oneandabean · 17/10/2020 19:58

@AuntieStella tbf it was a boys name I was thinking of, already got the girls name sorted. I have no idea about football so that wouldn’t bother me, and the carrows in Harry Potter we’re brother and sister, Carrow was their surname.
