How would you spell this name? Darcey, Darcy or Darcie?

Also, opinions on this name ? I think it’s a pretty and not very common name but is still a heard of name, however, something is holding me back! 🥴

I like the spelling Darcie but actually would say Darcy is the default spelling and she would be constantly correcting people if it was spelt any other way. Never that struck on the name until l met a girl called Darcy and she is the most adorable and kindest little girl so now l love the name!

I’ve seen it spelt all three ways but none seem more ‘right’ than another if that makes sense. FWIW it’s very popular in the South West, I know a lot.

Kanaloa · 10/10/2020 22:55

I think it's cute. I have looked after a few and they are usually Darcie/Darcy. I think I prefer Darcy.

recreationalcalpol · 10/10/2020 23:00

Sorry OP, I hate it. It’s a really overused name IMO, and is often paired with Mae, which I also really dislike.

riotlady · 10/10/2020 23:02

I like Darcey

I used to ride a pony called Darcy. It's not really a little girl name in my ears.

Darcy

danascully96 · 10/10/2020 23:49

Not a fan, but I do like the Jane Austen spirit.

What about Clara, Eliza, Louisa, Julia, Rose, Violet, Caroline, or Keira?

I can see why you like the name Darcy, but it has unfortunate rhymes and will definitely mold the child to a certain personality type, I think. But it's not terrible by any means, just not my style.

Rockmehardplace · 11/10/2020 00:34

Darcie. It’s very popular around here.

hollylouise1994 · 11/10/2020 05:18

It’s a popular name, I liked it but this whole spelling thing is exactly what put me off. I got a bit obsessed trying to decide on the ‘right’ spelling. If you like it then go with the spelling you like best.

Ghosts2020 · 11/10/2020 05:54

adore a good IE spelling, ie Emilie, Hollie, Lillie, Daphnie ect

toastofthetown · 11/10/2020 07:21

I prefer Darcey for the Darcey Bussell association, but the most popular spelling in the UK is Darcie.

August20 · 11/10/2020 08:16

I would think Darcy as the default.

I know it's used as a girls name but I immediately think surname à la Pride and Prejudice.

None of those are good spellings. Ick.
NC4NW123 · 11/10/2020 08:25

Darcey

EggyPegg · 11/10/2020 08:28

I know three. One Darcey and two Darcy's. I think Darcy is the right one personally as that's the Pride and Prejudice spelling.

It is fairly common where I am (South West like a PP).

ComicePear · 11/10/2020 08:32

Darcy. I like it.

toastofthetown · 11/10/2020 08:57

Darcy is a popular name though, especially when spellings are combined. Adding together the spellings for Darcy, Darcey and Darcey makes it the 31st most popular name in England and Wales, sitting between Matilda and Daisy. That's not counting for Darcy-Rose, Darcie-Mae etc which will add further the popularity.

Darcy

WunWun · 11/10/2020 09:01

Darcy is the only spelling as far as I'm concerned. The other two look awful.

MercyBodle · 11/10/2020 11:03

Darcy spelling. Not unusual though.

sibbys · 11/10/2020 11:04

DARCY

WiserOwl · 11/10/2020 11:07

You forgot D'Arcy!

I don't like it as a first name. It was a bit of the moment, years ago.

what about a NN for ............Dara Celine? Delia Lucy?

emilybrontescorsett · 11/10/2020 11:31

I think my gut is saying Darcey. I like it.

Romemarie · 11/10/2020 11:45

Love the name. And spelling should be Darcey. It’s a great name!
