Florence or Isla?

My husband prefers Florence, I prefer Isla. Popularity isn't an issue as we like the names. We have a son called Jack.

Oooh. That's tough. Two friends have both Florence and Isla and I love both of them.

Isla and Jack seems nice as similar length (that now seems weird as I type it) but equally Florence would be nice.

This might come down to a battle of wills!

I have the same thought about Jack and Isla being the same length so I don't find that weird 😂

Plus all Florences get shortened to Flo which is awful

Florence is so beautiful. Nothing wrong with flo either and it doesn't have to be shortened it's only 2 syllabus

I know they are popular and it hadn't really bothered us too much. But as you teach girls do you have any suggestions that are similar but not as popular??

@glen you sound so friendly and warm, i wish you taught my children! As if you can't have names because there are a few of them, I mean unless you call you child something really bizarre there will be a lot of them somewhere. What an odd response

Isla is no where near as popular as it used to be. It's numbers have been declining each and every year since 2014
Over 1,000 LESS Isla's born in 2019 compared to 2014.

I LOVE both names but think I slightly prefer Florence however I like the symmetry of Isla and Jack having the same number of letters so I think I'd pick Isla of the two

Both names are nice, I really couldn't choose. If pressed I might say Isla because I think Jack and Isla sound nice together, but Florence is lovely too. Isla Florence sounds nice as a combination, maybe you could use both.

Isla! I don't like Florence. My friends have a 9 year old Florence who was named after the city. I thought I would grow to like it. I haven't.

Florence is much nicer. Isla sounds a bit insubstantial.
