Louis or Jack?

Can’t decide! Whichever we don’t pick will probably be the middle name. Our surname is a pretty common one beginning with T.

Both lovely. Think I'd pick Louis
I just wrote Jack though then deleted it and changed to Louis so it's very close

Mairyhinge · 03/10/2020 11:18

I had this same issue 18 years ago! I liked Louis very much but settled on Jack. Didn't like Lou, and Jack is a strong family name for us. Plus can't be shortened. ( although big sis calls him Jacklyn to annoy him).

Peachbubble · 03/10/2020 11:41

Jack, not keen on Louis.

Grufallosfriends · 03/10/2020 11:42

Louis can be pronounced the French way , Louie, or Lou-is. The latter is common in the US, Germany, Scandinavia etc.

mummy2myJJ · 03/10/2020 11:53

Love Jack, such a classic strong name... Louis is okay but a bit twee for me! Good luck OP x

Grufallosfriends · 03/10/2020 12:23

Jack is very widely used. Wasn't it THE number one name a few years ago?

With a common surname he may well be many with his exact name Confused!

Lavendersy · 03/10/2020 12:28

Both very popular so maybe not ideal with a popular surname. Could get confusing!

Oneandabean · 03/10/2020 12:49

Jack definitely, you’d be constantly correcting people with Louis

ablisha · 03/10/2020 13:00

@noonaah do you have middle names sorted for either?

user1493494961 · 03/10/2020 14:58

Louis.

ellenpartridge · 03/10/2020 15:08

Jack

Lebkuchenlovers · 03/10/2020 15:31

I agree that with a common surname I'd choose a less popular first name.

Lucilia · 03/10/2020 15:50

Louis all the way!
That’s what I would have chosen if I had a son.

Snow234 · 04/10/2020 19:23

Louis.. that’s if your pronouncing it Louie...

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 04/10/2020 20:04

Louis if you have a common surname.

Spidey66 · 04/10/2020 20:10

Both good, solid names. Louis has the edge just because Jack is so popular. As long is the s isn't pronounced, cos that would be Lewis.

loops9 · 04/10/2020 20:11

Louis

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 04/10/2020 20:13

Nice choices.

I think I’d go for Louis.

mushforbrain · 04/10/2020 20:20

We have a Jack Louis! Grin (Pronounced Louie) To be honest I’m not keen on Louis but it was my husband’s grandfather’s name so I said it could be middle.
I LOVE the name Jack it’s so classic, and I don’t care if it’s popular, it’s not because it’s a trend, it’s because it’s a nice name that stands the test of time.

Dangerousminds · 04/10/2020 21:30

Louis! Gorgeous name and Jack is so popular

BloggersBlog · 04/10/2020 21:33

Are you bothered about popularity? If so -

Jack if you want him to have the same name as 6 other boys in his class

Louis if you want him to maybe only have one or 2 others in the school

Kanaloa · 04/10/2020 21:36

Both are nice, I prefer Jack though.

mirandatempestuous · 04/10/2020 21:37

Louis!! Love it

jellyfish1982 · 04/10/2020 21:37
