Not that common for my age group and very rare for babies now. Odd really as it's not a weird name or anything, everyone's heard of it.

FOKKYFC · 27/09/2020 17:00

Extremely rare. Handful of us in the world.

Frenzies · 27/09/2020 17:00

A classic still commonly used in my country of origin, but rare in the UK.

KitNCaboodle · 27/09/2020 17:07

There wasn’t anyone else in my primary school with my name and I don’t think in my secondary either. However, have worked with a few, mostly younger than me. I also know of a few school aged girls with the name.
I thought it was a top 100 name but just looked and didn’t see it.

I like it and would have considered it for my daughter.

AmericanLemonade · 27/09/2020 17:08

Uncommon and have never met another (I'm 30)

lanbro · 27/09/2020 17:09

Uncommon but perfectly normal, it often pops up as a suggestion but I've not known of any infants recently with it...

lilfoxfur · 27/09/2020 17:09

Very common. Is a 'royal' name beginning with V and very used in the 80s when I was born. I don't carry it off, I'm a bit common 😂 I used the shortened version

SerenityNowwwww · 27/09/2020 17:10

Yes. Vince is a bit common these days...

WinifredSanderson · 27/09/2020 17:11

Very uncommon

caughtalightsneeze · 27/09/2020 17:12

Mine is very uncommon. I have never met another one who is my age or younger, although I have met a couple of much older ladies who share it.

Buffyj · 27/09/2020 17:13

Uncommon in UK

daisychain1620 · 27/09/2020 17:15

Uncommon but not rare. the shortened version of my name that I use is very uncommon, I've never met another one

Lemonsyellow · 27/09/2020 17:17

Very common in the decade I was born. A name of its era. Unused nowadays. Often mentioned on here with a shudder.

Ikeameatballs · 27/09/2020 17:17

Uncommon in the UK. Very common in another European country.

mathanxiety · 27/09/2020 17:17

Reasonably common in Ireland for a few decades. Uncommon elsewhere.

JustanotherTuesday · 27/09/2020 17:18

Extremely uncommon, there was never anybody else at school saddled with it. I have never met someone my age or younger with the same name, they mostly seem to be in their seventies or eighties .

OllysArmy · 27/09/2020 17:19

For my age relatively common in that there were 2 of us in my school year, was still about the same for girls that are 10 years younger than me but quite low on the list now, I think there were 2 that I am aware of when DD was at secondary. My name has only 1 variation
DD1 has a name which has no variations and usually occurs once in a secondary year group it is traditional and may be slightly more popular now that when I was a child
DD2 has a name which has many variations and is traditional and has been popular since forever.

reefedsail · 27/09/2020 17:20

There were 7 people in my school French set called the same thing as me, and my best friend has the same name.

I've never been bothered by how common it is (well, was then).

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/09/2020 17:27

It was when I was born (70s) not now, though.

ginghamtablecloths · 27/09/2020 17:33

There were three of us in the same class in the early 70s but I've only met one other since and a colleague gave her baby this name. Classic? maybe - a film star and a few mature actresses share it, I wouldn't say it was particularly glamorous and I've never really liked it.

SockQueen · 27/09/2020 17:38

Very common in the 80s when I was born (and before that too) but has faded since then and is now almost unheard of in new babies.

Bert2e · 27/09/2020 17:43

Of an era, everyone has heard of it but now ranks outside the top 100

Hoppinggreen · 27/09/2020 17:46

My name used to be mostly short for something (but with a different spelling) and people used to spell it as the shortened version of that name NEVER how mine was spelt and quite often I was called the full name
It’s only in the last 5 years or so that people bothered to check the spelling because it was always the other way. You do see it now, especially since there’s now a famous singer with my name - spelt right

SerenityNowwwww · 27/09/2020 17:54

Only one of my sisters and I got the ‘weird’ names. The rest of my siblings got off lightly. My sister has never met another one (and I have met only one of my namesakes).

We joke that mum must have been in the heavy drugs in the maternity ward when we were born.

We have both grown up with the reaction “??? Oh that’s... unusual...” and all she ever said was ‘I thought it was a nice name...’. I don’t think dad got a say in the matter.

In fact our siblings have got rather boring and common names.

Mags5Bia · 27/09/2020 18:01

Common for the decade I was born in, less so now.
