Uncommon in this country. Slightly more common in another European country but for women 20 years older than me.

UnderCaffeinated · 29/09/2020 23:21

Really uncommon in this country, but fairly common in another European country. Very exciting when I meet another with my name kind of uncommon.

It's easy to spell though, but people often pretend they don't know how to spell it.

Ghosts2020 · 30/09/2020 02:45

Very common, number one often between 96 and 2016 recently dropped off the number 10, never fully associated it as my name and gone with nicknames or my unusual middle name as well as every girl in the 2000's had this name or knew someone (hint not Louise), meaning is young grass, fertility ect

Common, extremely common now a days! I was known but not In the top 100 when I was younger. Now it's in the top 10!!

jessstan2 · 30/09/2020 04:44

Medium.

MooseBreath · 30/09/2020 17:09

Uncommon in the UK. It's deemed "American" on this forum, though it's actually Celtic.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 30/09/2020 17:15

Rare.
Usually misspelt.

BluebellsAndBees · 30/09/2020 22:26

Very uncommon as in old fashioned in the UK. Think top 10 in the 1920's. The sort of name your great-aunt would have and I'm in my thirties. So uncommon now that most people don't know how to spell it, unless it's their great-aunt's name. Yet consistently top 100 in continental Europe and top 10 in Sweden.

Rathmobhaile · 30/09/2020 22:35

Uncommon. Only one in my primary and secondary school. Worked in a company with 3500 employees and there were no other employees with the same first name. I've met one other person with the same name in 50 years.

Gemma2019 · 30/09/2020 22:41

Mine used to be uncommon - I never met another Gemma all through school or university. I just looked it up and apparently my name peaked in popularity in 2017!

Blibbyblobby · 30/09/2020 22:43

Totally common and has been for hundreds of years, which means it's usually the most common ladies name in the graveyard as well!

MiniMum97 · 30/09/2020 22:46

Very uncommon.

UselessASD · 30/09/2020 22:51

Gave hyphenated name. each quite popular, never seen together. Use my middle name unpopular in UK but popular in another culture.

TalbotAMan · 30/09/2020 22:51

When I was given it, it was very uncommon. I dob't think I knew anyone else with it.

Then it became quite popular and there were lots of little Xs 20 or 30 years my junior.

Now it's becoming uncommon again. It's still in the top 100 but falling fast.

Dyra · 01/10/2020 02:16

Common. But then it's featured in the top 50 for the past 50 or so years.

WhatDoIDooDIoDtahW · 01/10/2020 02:22

@onlyreadingneverposting8 I think I may have named my daughter your name. Is it a golden oldie?

WhatDoIDooDIoDtahW · 01/10/2020 02:23

Classic, old fashioned but some still being named today. My mum chose it as she said it’s a strong name however I think it’s more ‘sweet’.

But she also spelt it alternatively and I’ve only ever encountered someone else with the same spelling one when watching one of the next top model series.
