Blake for a girl??

What do you think of Blake for a girl as it’s quite well known as a boys name! Not sure whether it sounds a bit too ‘masculine’ and confusing as a girls name?

What are your honest opinions on Blake Margot/Margaux?

or maybe the other way round and stick Blake in the middle? Thank you x

Margaux... that spelling... honest answer.... fucking awful. Like Margot though. Have a friend with a Margot.

Blake Lively is BEAUTIFUL. And this would be my association (so a very good one!!!)

Firebird83 · 24/09/2020 22:34

Margot Blake would be better

fabulous40s · 24/09/2020 22:42

Sorry, not keen either.

Blake - I think of that loser Amy winehouse married.

Margot I always read as maggot.

RoSEbuds6 · 24/09/2020 22:45

Blake's Seven
Blakey from 'On the Buses'
(It would only be OAP's that would get those references though so you should be ok Grin.
Margot is lovely though.

Helpmeplan2020 · 24/09/2020 22:46

I love Blake for a girl, I love unisex names

imissthesouth · 24/09/2020 22:47

Blake isn't a very nice name, all i can think of is council estate chavs😳I love margot though, so cute!

ZolaGrey · 24/09/2020 22:53

The only Blake's I know in real life are boys (and pains in the arses).

Margot I love though (Good Life fan).
Please don't spell it Margaux though, it sounds like some kind of custard pudding.

Kanaloa · 24/09/2020 23:10

I think Blake is lovely for a boy. For a girl, I prefer Margot/Margaux. Margot/Margaux Blake sounds lovely and very cool.

Auto · 24/09/2020 23:22

I'm not particularly keen on either, but Margot is better than Blake, which is too surnamey and explosive.

ButterflyRuns · 24/09/2020 23:23

I don't like it, sorry. But Margot is a pretty name!

DramaAlpaca · 25/09/2020 00:03

I quite like Blake for a boy, but hate it on a girl.

I dislike Margot too, sorry.

Notapheasantplucker · 25/09/2020 00:07

I'm really not keen on Blake at all, but Margot is okish

ETgo · 25/09/2020 00:07

I actually really like Blake for a girl, it’s not a name I’ve thought of as unisex but I love it 🙂, however I do also like Elliott for a girl too (Scrubs is to blame for that!)

bridgetreilly · 25/09/2020 00:34

I don’t like it as a boy’s name but I really hate it for a girl. Margot is lovely. Stick with that.

MercyBodle · 25/09/2020 00:36

I don't like Blake for a girl or boy.
Margaux/Margot is much better. I particularly like the Margaux spelling.

VenusClapTrap · 25/09/2020 08:09

Blake is a horrible name.

Kokeshi123 · 25/09/2020 09:40

Blake is horrid anyway, and sounds really stupid on a girl.

Margot is OK but please spell it that way.

eatsleepbreastfeedrepeat · 25/09/2020 10:00

I love it for a girl, that could be because of Blake Lively but I would say go for it.

PlantPotting · 25/09/2020 10:19

Love love love Blake for a boy.
I think it works fine for a girl in the same way James can work for a girl but obviously it's a boys name.
Margot is also lovely

Garcellesaidwhaaat · 25/09/2020 10:24

I think it's fiiine, bit boyish. Prefer Brook.
Makes me think of the beautiful (before and after nose job) Blake Lively - plus she has a great surname. And the boyfriend of Amy Winehouse.

Garcellesaidwhaaat · 25/09/2020 10:31

Adding this to say that come to think of it the only reason I think Blake sounds fine for a girl is because of the Blake Lively association. But when I imagine hearing someone call Blaaake to your average kid/teen/adult female on the street it's a no from me.

Margot Blake much better.

Alba?

Garcellesaidwhaaat · 25/09/2020 10:32

Worth baring in mind that Margot may be on the rise in the same way that Gigi and Dua are because of the celebrity connections. Plus I see Margot mentioned on here a lot atm.

fantasmasgoria1 · 25/09/2020 10:36

Iiminthesouth, please don't generalise in regards to council estates. In my experience "chavs" and people similar are not confined to council estates. I live on a private estates and there are plenty of what you call "chavs".

pimble · 25/09/2020 10:43

Blake reminds me of Blakey's for shoes Margaux is horrific

PlantPotting · 25/09/2020 10:46

Love Blake for a boy
How about Brooke for a girl ?
