Cannot choose a boy’s name! Help!

It’s starting to drive me crazy. I like so many girl’s names but it’s a boy, so I’m stuck. I like relatively unusual but not completely out-there/stupid names. I’d like them to be the only one in their class, but I still want a lovely name. Please help.

If you want them to be the only one in their class (and i obviously appreciate there's not guarantees) I'd take a list of the top 100 names and make sure you cross off every single one!
I see Rory suggested for example. A nice enough name but there's loads of them (and loads of top 100 boy names starting Ro_) so I would cross that off.

Abraham. Alfred. Martin. Damien. Denis. Fergus. Ralph. Edmund. Adrian. Nelson. Clancy. Cyril. Bertram. Francis. St John (sinjun)
I always hope someone chooses one of my names and lets me know. Even if I don’t like it myself (I definitely don’t love all my suggestions) it would still be a huge win Grin

I’d like them to be the only one in his class.
That’s unrealistic, though. No matter what name you choose there’s no guarantee of that.
You’re probably but not definitely less likely to find the following names in the class room now.
John
Paul
Alan
Gary
Carl
Terence
Lawrence
Trevor
Norman
Brian
Cedric
Maurice
Horace
Donald

I agree there’s no guarantee of having the only one in the class. What style of names do you like? It might be easier if you post a few you like then people can add suggestions.

Yes to the only one in their class... one of mine has a name used 80 times the year they were born... there was another in their nursery class 😂

We have the same “requirements” and are likely to go with Lachlan or Owen. So hopefully you’re not in the same school catchment areas as us Wink

I can’t believe people are suggesting Arthur
Max Gabriel and Reuben as unusual, they’re everywhere

@Awwlookatmybabyspider I know 🤣 I think people aren't as obsessed with the name numbers as geeks like me

Agree you can never guarantee there wont be two in a class but you can seriously reduce your chances. I find it a bit strange when people almost dismiss popularity and say you can't predict it because you completely can predict it if you look at the statistics. There may well be a few schools in the country where there's 2 Laurences in a class for example. But there will be far more schools in the country where there will be two Arthur's for example. And yes you can predict that by looking at the statistics
Plus when people say they'd like their child to be the only one in the class, I interpret that really as just meaning they don't want a mega popular name. If you pick a really rare name like Clive and end up with another Clive in the class, that would probably be a nice surprise as that's likely to be the only other Clive you come across your whole life looking at the statistics.
