What do we think about Harriet for a first name, and any ideas for middle names? Our last name stats with Ail.

So far we like (ish):

Harriet Grace
Harriet May
Harriet Mabel
Harriet Wren

Any other suggestions?

Harriet isn't my type but all except Harriet May are really nice combinations! I only dislike May because I feel like it's a way too common middle name.

daisypond · 18/09/2020 17:25

Hm. I’m not wild about Harriet. I find it dreary. But it’s fine. Grace and May are good names but they are much better as first names and are wasted as middle names. Mabel is dreary too, worse than Harriet. Wren is a bit naff.

Ricekrispie22 · 18/09/2020 17:46

Harriet Maeve
Harriet Sophie
Harriet Phoebe
Harriet Nancy
Harriet Jade
Harriet June

itsjakeandamy · 18/09/2020 18:08

I really like Harriet.
How about:
Harriet Emily
Harriet Amelie
Harriet Elodie
Harriet Annabel
Harriet Sophie
Harriet Catherine
Harriet Eleanor

bridgetreilly · 18/09/2020 20:18

I love Harriet. Of your suggestions I think Harriet Mabel is my favourite but I also like Harriet Wren.

To consider:
Harriet Maud
Harriet Lois
Harriet Joan
Harriet Beryl
Harriet Daphne

Love Harriet and love all of your middle name suggestions especially Harriet Grace. Sorry probably not very helpful if you're trying to narrow a list down

DramaAlpaca · 18/09/2020 20:24

I like Harriet, it's feminine but not in the least bit frilly or fussy.

I like Grace best of the middle names. Not May, it's boring. Mabel is too frumpy and I find Wren a bit silly.

I like Harriet Rose. I know Rose is overused as a middle name, but it goes very well with Harriet.

Panpig · 18/09/2020 20:28

Harriet Lucy
Harriet Frances
Harriet Isobel

MikeUniformMike · 18/09/2020 20:30

Harriet Grace - filler middle name
Harriet May - filler middle name
Harriet Mabel - doesn't flow that well
Harriet Wren - Wren is awful

MikeUniformMike · 18/09/2020 20:55

Something traditional like Ruth, Elizabeth, Mary ...
Harriet Verity?

Tillygetsit · 18/09/2020 21:34

Harriet Fern?

Falcone · 18/09/2020 21:35

Harriet Mabel. Beautiful

wizzler · 18/09/2020 21:37

How about Harriet Joy?

Scarby9 · 18/09/2020 21:38

Are you happy with the nickname Hattie? Or could you maybe try to pre-empt with Harry?

allthedamnvampires · 18/09/2020 21:39

Love Harriet. Harriet Mary? Harriet Sarah?

NarcissistsEyebrows · 18/09/2020 21:42

Harriet is lovely!
I like Mabel but the two together are a little overly Granny chic IMO, so I think pairing it with sonething more neutral works. Not sure what, but more Emily than Maud IYSWIM

BigcatLittlecat · 18/09/2020 21:44

Harriet Julia is nice! And I love Hattie!

Chocolatecake12 · 18/09/2020 21:51

My absolutely favourite girls name - have loved it for ever - had 2 boys though so couldn’t use it.
Harriet Caroline
Harriet Louise
Harriet Faye
Harriet Amy
Harriet Sarah

Or from your list I like Harriet grace

YorkshireParentalPerson · 18/09/2020 21:51

Harriet Louise
Harriet Jane
Harriet Ann
Harriet claire
Harriet Joy
Harriet Jade
Harriet Sofia
Harriet Grace
Harriet Nicole
Harriet Rose

buntingandstarcharts · 18/09/2020 22:00

@Pregernaught it's my name and it's the best. My parents wanted to call me Hattie but decided it wasn't serious enough and so put Harriet on my birth certificate. Imo it's been the best of both worlds as I am Harriet on a CV or when I'm wearing my serious hat but then Hattie for my actual everyday life. My middle name begins with B and so I've been Hattie Bee to family forever. Go for it. Plus I've only met one or two others ever (I'm 30) Smile

Megan2018 · 18/09/2020 22:03

Love Harriet! Was on our list.
I’m not keen on Grace or May as middle names, very over used.

We went for family names as middle names.

I like:
Harriet Matilda
Harriet Mary
Harriet Joy
Harriet Jayne
Harriet Lucy
Harriet Elizabeth

thegreylady · 18/09/2020 22:19

I love Harriet and would have been my first choice for a second dd.

Firebird83 · 18/09/2020 22:25

Harriet Mabel is the best from your list.

How about...

Harriet Eliza
Harriet Jemima
Harriet Emily
Harriet Florence
Harriet Isobel
Harriet Lucy
Harriet Matilda
Harriet Daisy
Harriet Sophia
Harriet Poppy
Harriet Sadie
Harriet Willow

Awrite · 18/09/2020 22:29

Great name.

Think it goes best with Grace. HG are fab initials.

Go for it.

Mustangsallyis · 18/09/2020 22:36

Love it!
