Second on our list for a boy is Joss. Thoughts on this too please?

Stick

ShellsAndSunrises · 16/09/2020 17:53

I prefer the Jos spelling, like the cricketer, but I like the name. And I’ve met the cricketer, he was lovely Grin

RhiannonGyspy · 16/09/2020 17:54

@ShellsAndSunrises is it still said the same? Joss rather than Jos(e) like hose?

Thneedville · 16/09/2020 17:57

I like the name, but I wonder if people would struggle not to say josh

MikeUniformMike · 16/09/2020 17:59

It's fine. I'd use it as short for Joseph.

StepawayfromtheBiscuittin · 16/09/2020 18:00

Love it, it was in my family.

chelkjxhhd · 16/09/2020 18:03

To me it just sounds like josh said with a lisp which has always put me off

GoatsInBoats · 16/09/2020 18:04

I quite like it, but I prefer Jem, which to me is in a similar vein.

MrsCalypsoGrant · 16/09/2020 18:13

Absolutely love it. When I first heard Joss Ackland's beautiful voice when I was a child in the early eighties I decided any son of mine would be a Joss. A good friend of mine then named her son Joss & it didn't really work with the surname I had by that point so I never got my Joss. But I think it's one of the nicest names around.

I'm also old enough to remember Jossy's Giants Grin

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/09/2020 18:15

I love Jos Buttler too. Jos is fabulous name.

Choice4567 · 16/09/2020 18:15

Absolutely! Jos is an awesome name

Saisong · 16/09/2020 18:16

I knew a rather posh Joss once, his actual name was Jocelyn - which I think he found hard to live with.

Celticdawn5 · 16/09/2020 18:18

Joss is usually the short version of Jocelyn

meanyp · 16/09/2020 18:20

Here's a Joss for you. (Joss Wayar)
Suits him!

Joss
LynetteScavo · 16/09/2020 18:20

It OK - I really love Jess and Ross, so am trying to figure out why I'm a bit meh about Joss. I think it's because I met one I didn't line once (he was probably a Jocelin though)

Joeyandpacey · 16/09/2020 18:20

I know a joss. Really suits him.

FelicityPike · 16/09/2020 18:21

Love it

Scarby9 · 16/09/2020 18:23

The Joss I know is short for Jossaniel.
Joss is a great nane.

Oly4 · 16/09/2020 18:24

Awful sorry

TheNighthawk · 16/09/2020 18:26

Only if short for Jocelyn. Otherwise silly.

Arnoldthecat · 16/09/2020 18:27

NO

lakeswimmer · 16/09/2020 18:30

I like it - it's quite a popular kids name in my area and I've seen it used for girls and boys just as it is - not short for anything.

morefun · 16/09/2020 18:32

I knew a nice Joss when I was younger (he was older). I like it. People mistook it for Josh a fair bit, but that happens with some names - my daughter's sounds a lot like two other names.

GreenJellyBean · 16/09/2020 18:39

I think it’s a great name!

wineymummy · 16/09/2020 18:41

In Jamaica Inn, Joss is short for Joshua. And his brother is Jem. I like it.
