Don't love any girl names

Hi,

Due in about a month with a little girl and struggling to find a name. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

My top choice at the moment is Jasmine, but I don't know if I like it enough. I don't like the shortening to Jazz or the Disney connection - but I do like the flower and scent connection.

Other names we have considered and currently discounted:
Isabella - we are both teachers and OH has a bad connection.
Wren - maybe not very feminine and a bit divisive.
Autumn - I kind of like it, but it's also my least favourite season and don't think child is likely to have the colouring to suit it, if that makes sense.
Florence - OH likes it, but just sounds a bit frumpy to me still. Quite a lot of them at the moment I think too.
No names ending in ie/y as it will be too matchy with our son.
Just really struggling to find a name I do love!

For a boy this time it would have been either Reuben or Barnaby.

Thanks for any suggestions or new perspectives!

Thank you for the suggestions. I think the full list of considerations now goes something like this:

Jasmine
Autumn
Wren
Flora
Freya
Lara

But still not in love with any. Maybe we will just have to wait until she is born to feel something suits her - I think both being school teachers doesn't help.

Just on your ie/y rule - my name is not that common and difficult to shorten but when done its both a bit too informal and childish for most situations, and too easy to take the piss out of in a rhyming way and it was crap.

I hated it. My full name always sound so formal and unfriendly at school compared to others and I always really wanted a better name with an 'ee' ending!

Sausagedog1 · 31/08/2020 19:56

I love your options except Freya and Lara which are a bit dull.
Autumn Jasmine Wren and Flora are all gorgeous. I personally wouldn't use Flora though due to the butter jokes but that's probably be being a bit paranoid.
I have a short surname so wouldn't use Wren but if I had a long surname it would be a contender.
Autumn and Jasmine would be my faves. I also love Skye and Summer.

Somethingvague · 31/08/2020 20:02

Thanks for the suggestions again. @Sausagedog1 I also love Summer (which would have been my son's name but I feel it would be an odd choice for a late september baby) and Skye (except it was a very missed family dog name!)

And agreed about the butter putting me off Flora.
