Thoughts on sage or Lavender for DD or any similar suggestions??

Ricekrispie22 · 24/08/2020 20:07

I like both. I also like Clover and Saffron.

formerbabe · 24/08/2020 20:08

Lavender is quite sweet although potential nickname Lav would massively put me off.

Sage is a little trendy and try hard for me...is it not a boy's name?

How about
Primrose
Amber
Violet
Heather
Ivy

Inching · 24/08/2020 20:08

Sage suggests stuffing to me -- or some sort of guru. In my head, the guru is eating sage and onion stuffing while meditating. Lavender feels a bit twee and Edwardian. Prancing in Kate Greenaway frocks.

dementedma · 24/08/2020 20:09

Rosemary
Violet
Peony
Sorrel
Rowan

SendHelp30 · 24/08/2020 20:11

Not keen on either, sorry.
Primrose & Ivy are okay and similar.

Whatthebloodyell · 24/08/2020 20:11

Lavender is pretty but Lav is such an awful nn that it is unusable imo.
I think Sage is nice though despite being another herby name it has quite a different feel.

What about :

Marigold
Sorrel

JanewaysBun · 24/08/2020 20:14

Clover is the name I wasn't brave enough house for DD

Angel2702 · 24/08/2020 20:18

I like lavender but I was put off by Lav.
How about
Lilac
Myrtle
Rosemary
Primrose
Marigold
Violet

I really don’t like Sage too much connection with onion and stuffing.

Callybrid · 24/08/2020 20:22

I know a Sage; I think it’s a nice name.

I am enjoying the herb theme... You could go for:
Salvia (part of the Latin name for sage)
Melissa (Lemon Balm)
Cassia (Cinnamon - branching out from herbs to spices now)
Camomile
Coriander
Cicely (as in Sweet Cicely)
AraMINTa
Anise
Grin

Mondaymanic · 24/08/2020 20:22

I really like them

Callybrid · 24/08/2020 20:25

Ooh, and Angelica! (Wild celery)
Bay or Laurel?

janetmendoza · 24/08/2020 20:27

Lav is not good. But as already mentioned might Lilac be an alternative?

TwizzledTurkey · 24/08/2020 20:29

I love the name Sage for a girl!

Jessabean · 24/08/2020 20:30

I prefer Sage tbh out of those two. Know it can also be a boys name but I think of it as a girls name although quite out there and rarely used it's growing on me more I hear it. The inability to nn Lavender successfully would put me off.

How about Juniper as well along a similar theme?

OhTheRoses · 24/08/2020 20:34

Lavender was a pain in the bum in Harry Potter.

Daphne
Isabel (anagram of Basil)
Willow
Primrose
Celandine

Upalln1ght · 24/08/2020 20:35

Sage is lovely, though I think it's becoming quite popular. Other ideas are

Marigold (could be Mari or Goldie)
Blossom
Jasmine
Olive

TheRosariojewels · 24/08/2020 20:43

Lavinia

CarolVordermansArse · 24/08/2020 20:49

Violet

RaveOm · 24/08/2020 20:54

Lav/Lavvie would put me off too

JustanotherTuesday · 24/08/2020 21:01

I prefer Sage to Lavender but I really like Sorrell .

8catsisnotunreasonable · 24/08/2020 21:08

Another vote for Sorrel 👍🏼 How about Lily or Rose? Lavender is lovely...how would you feel about Libby or Livvy as a nickname?

Oneandabean · 24/08/2020 22:03

I suggested on another thread the other day that L(Elle) could be a nickname instead of lav. I like both names but prefer lavender

Oneandabean · 24/08/2020 22:05

@OhTheRoses Isabel isn’t an anagram of basil.

OhTheRoses · 24/08/2020 22:07

It nearly is Grin

Tillygetsit · 24/08/2020 22:40

Zinnia?
