Thoughts on these three? We have been umm-big and ahh-big over a boy name for what seems like forever! Dunno the sex but baby due in a few weeks now s as d it is starting to stress me out. We can't call it baby three can we? 🤣

Hamish and Cameron are great. Malcolm isn't.

formerbabe · 21/08/2020 20:14

Cameron is the nicest imo.

Hamish...ok

Definitely not Malcolm

SacreBleeurgh · 21/08/2020 20:17

I like all three - Hamish was my imaginary boy name, my absolute fav. Malcolm is lovely and a bit different but seems to get a pretty negative response on here - never quite sure why - I’ve known a couple of younger ones who were in my peer group (admittedly now late 20s/early 30s..!) and name suited them both as children and adults. Cameron is much more common and I’m a bit ‘meh’ about it as a result, but it’s perfectly inoffensive.

Oneandabean · 21/08/2020 20:20

Hamish is great, Cameron I’m indifferent to, Malcolm is not good

BikeRunSki · 21/08/2020 20:21

Hamish - love it
Malcolm - Old man name
Cameron - love the name, but will forever be associated with a PM I didn’t like

iklboo · 21/08/2020 20:23

Lovely traditional Scottish names. I like them in this order:

Cameron
Hamish
Malcolm (or how about Callum?)

Terriergrrrrrrrr · 21/08/2020 20:36

Gregor? Struan? Too many Camerons, I like Hamish but have a pet with that name and the Malcolm I knew got called Wee Malkie.

chillandrelax · 21/08/2020 20:49

Not Malcolm!

FelicityPike · 21/08/2020 20:49

If you’re in Scotland Malcolm will more than likely get Malky...I don’t like that.
Hamish is too “twee”, like English people who pretend they’re Scottish (Sorry.....like those folk who wear tweed & just want to tramp around the heather covered moors).
Cameron is fine.

😂 yes this is my fear with hamish too and also what is slightly putting me off Rory (although not in the UK at the moment so would want to steer clear of Gaelic spelling).

I didn't realise Malcolm was viewed as an old man name, although I seem to like that style judging by previous choices.

Yes I like Gregor a lot too, although would need to revise possible middle name of Francis at rock of sounding to "pope-y".

Cameron is my favourite.
Not keen on the other 2

Tavannach · 21/08/2020 23:19

I like them all, and in the order you've put them. I guess Malcom might be seen as an old man name, but old man names are bang on trend atm. Also like Gregor, and, coming at it from left field, Sholto and Ivo.
Hamish is a shortening of James btw.

78Helena · 22/08/2020 00:15

Hamish

I do not live the other two

Danniiaddy · 22/08/2020 01:10

Cameron
Don’t like the others - sorry!

DramaAlpaca · 22/08/2020 01:14

Hamish & Cameron I like. Malcolm, I don't.

Peachbubble · 22/08/2020 08:25

Hamish

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 22/08/2020 08:26

Absolutely love Hamish but my DP was having none of it, sadly. Go for it!

Dotinthecity · 22/08/2020 08:28

I love Malcolm but it looks like that’s just me! 😉

Jojoanna · 22/08/2020 08:30

Love Malcolm not keen on Hamish or Cameron

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 22/08/2020 08:30

Cameron feels posh, and Hamish is a dog's name IME.
If you like the old man names thing, Malcolm definitely works. I love it.

Flappingflamingo · 22/08/2020 08:32

I don't actually mind malcolm, I think it would make a nice change to hear that

LetItGoHome · 22/08/2020 08:56

I like your all your choices. I also really like Graeme and Douglas?

LetItGoHome · 22/08/2020 09:01

.....also love Alistair x
