Maggy or Maggie?

Which do you prefer the look of? And why? It would be a full name, not a nickname to Margaret/Margot/Masha etc.

Jamhandprints · 19/08/2020 19:34

Maggie. Love this name!

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 19/08/2020 19:38

Maggie - I read Maggy as Moggy Confused

MamaLoLo1 · 19/08/2020 19:39

Ah I'm glad you all prefer Maggie. I do too but was deliberating whether Maggy looked a bit more final.

Maggy is not a name.

PlantPotting · 19/08/2020 21:05

Maggie is really lovely @MamaLoLo1

MikeUniformMike · 19/08/2020 21:20

Maggie

foxtiger · 19/08/2020 21:26

Maggy is not a name.

I know someone who goes by it (full name is Margaret) so it's not unheard of. I think I do prefer Maggie though, although neither is really my style.

Wheresthebiffer2 · 19/08/2020 21:38

Maggy - saggy baggy - not a name.

Maggie - the baby in the Simpsons, and a well-known shortening for Margaret.

MamaLoLo1 · 19/08/2020 21:44

Thanks @PlantPotting! It's the top contender!

Maggy is the more common in mainland Europe. There are a couple of famous French Maggys. I understand the baggy/saggy links though.

Maggy is a nickname just as Mag, Mags or Maggie is.

I like Margaret but love Margherita!

Ikeameatballs · 19/08/2020 22:05

Maggie!

Kittykatmacbill · 19/08/2020 23:04

Maggie.

Love it should have been dd1 name but cold feet at the last minute. Mostly because of the grandparents hated of thatcher.

Champy87 · 20/08/2020 10:51

@Kittykatmacbill

Maggie.

Love it should have been dd1 name but cold feet at the last minute. Mostly because of the grandparents hated of thatcher.

I was the same. It was my front running name for my pregnancy but got cold feet at the end. Still a little bit of regret there.

OP - I would have gone with Maggie too

badg3r · 20/08/2020 12:03

I know a Maggie at work, people always seem to presume the spelling is with -ie so I would say that is the more common spelling and go with that one!
