Opinions on the name?
I've loved Evangeline for a long time but is it a bit too much? It's a very long name and in a way I like that because there's different opinions for nicknames (Eve, Evie, Eva, Liney, Lina) but with a long name she's unlikely to be called by her full name very often. She may become another one of the Evie's and I do like names like that but it's quite popular at the moment

It's the star that Ray the firefly is in love with in Princess and the Frog. I love the name. (I like the song Ray sings to Evangeline too 😍)

I normally prefer short names that can't be shortened, but Evangeline is an exception to my usual taste. I absolutely adore it.

Some people see it as being very religious, though.

It's a truly beautiful name. With long names, you generally only use them when you are telling off, but with Evangeline, I imagine that you would use it for telling her how well she had done, or how good she was. It's that sort of name.

I knew one who was called Evie and another one called Vangie (not UK) - didn’t like that one!

It does have religious connotations though so I personally wouldn’t use it. What about Angelina?

I'm glad I've had positive responses. This is my third girl and I've considered Evangeline both times but went with a different names instead and I think it's time we finally choose it

If you both want to use Evangeline and start off with that then you've got a good chance of her being that at least til she's a bit older.

Some people like a whiter version but want to use a long name on the birth certificate so they ever really use the full name. I e for a name which was easily shortened but my mother never did (and I suspect was fairly dour if people tried) so I've still got it and am pleased. I've occasionally had people say that my name is too long (really not!) and that they'd need to shorten it but once I (vaguely politely) say that if it's too long not to bother at all, they usually use the whole thing.

I also loved House of Elliott so it's a win-win!

I love this name. If you want to avoid the ‘Eva/Evie’ shortening how about calling her Evangelia (Lia for short) or Evangelina (Lina for short)?

I like it. I generally like unfrilly, strong feminine names but there's something about Evangeline that's quite ethereal, almost ghostlike, and of course very feminine.

Genevieve is another name I like that is similar to my ear.

Oh I love Evangeline -its so pretty! I tried so hard to persuade my husband to have the name for our daughter but he wouldn't budge
