Looking for a middle name for Sage. It's hard to find a name that flows well. Would love to hear what you think! Smile

@reefedsail I love all three, especially Aria. Thank you.

It’s probably more common for a boy than a girl

Just looking for actual middle names, thank you.

Salvia?

Viviennemary · 14/08/2020 20:24

It's a really silly name. Please don't. The teasing will be horrendous.

sunyla · 14/08/2020 20:24

@TheRosariojewels Wren is lovely.
@IgnoranceIsStrength I have never heard of this so I assume we're from different countries?
Are you not in the UK? @sunyla

SAGE is the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies, the UK governmental body that has been advising the government on how to deal with COVID-19. They have been on the news pretty much every day since March. People like Dr Chris Whitty, Sir Patrick Vallence, Professor Neil Ferguson, and (unfortunately) Dominic Cummings...

sunyla · 14/08/2020 20:30

@Viviennemary You don't have to like it but to say it's a silly name is ridiculous. Are Ivy, Iris, Lily, Rosemary ect. also silly names to you?

Please, if you are not going to give actual suggestions please just don't say anything at all.

@OP, the responses here are an indication of what response the name will get in real life.

Basil would be a better choice.

sunyla · 14/08/2020 20:33

@MikeUniformMike Must be a UK thing because 1. it's a common name here and 2. very few people would be this rude. Unfortunately, many are living up to that stereotype. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Aubrey is a boys name. Are you thinking of Audrey?

IncrediblySadToo · 14/08/2020 20:36

Baby names attracts an awful lot of trolls cutting their teeth & building up their post count.

@sunyla lets just say, calling a child SAGE in 2020 is not going to be a good idea if you think she's ever likely to come to the UK.

It's become popular as a girls name now

Personally I prefer it for a girl.

sunyla · 14/08/2020 20:37

@AntiHop It's gender neutral though I've only ever heard it for a girl.

sunyla · 14/08/2020 20:40

@IncrediblySadToo I guess it's like Ivan to Australians. Popular in other countries but definitely not a favourite here.

Where is 'here'?

In the UK it is strongly associated with COVID-19, accounting software and stuffing for chicken or turkey.

Sage Gateshead is an excellent name for a culture centre.

LynetteScavo · 14/08/2020 20:46

I don't know where you live OP but Sage is not a usual name in the UK. I've never met it heard of a Sage, and I've come across some unusual names. I know lots of Willows and Honey's, a Hazel and a Heather but not one Sage.

It needs a middle name with the emphasis on the last syllable, so probably something French.

Or Willow.
