Hello, due twin boys in a couple of weeks time and are thinking of using these names with Thomas and Edward on birth certificate for full. What do people think? Cheers Smile

Tom and Ted are super cute, but Thomas and Edward is going to make everyone think of tank engines. If you are OK with that, go for it.

I like the names but am wondering if they are a bit too similar. Nice to have different initials for siblings (for post/school ect) so you have that.

PeskyRooks · 13/08/2020 16:35

I absolutely love those names! So cute.

angelofthelight · 13/08/2020 16:35

I'd keep the Tom and think of something different instead of Ted.

Marmite27 · 13/08/2020 16:36

I know a Thomas and Timothy.

onedaysoonish · 13/08/2020 16:37

Absolutely lovely!

zigaziga · 13/08/2020 16:49

Good I think especially since you’ll use Edward and Thomas so different initials and possibility for a more serious name as they grow up. Ted could well become Ed or Eddie.

SendHelp30 · 13/08/2020 16:50

My boys are Tommy and Billy but I did consider Teddy for DS2.

I know everyone on here hates “nicknames” as names but we love them and they suit our boys. It doesn’t bother me what others think.

Go for it!

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 13/08/2020 16:55

I know a Tom and Ed, which i prefer to be honest.

Monday55 · 13/08/2020 17:21

I wouldn't give them the same initial. when letters arrive with only initials on them, it'll be hard to know who's letter is who.... I used to share an initial with a member of my family and it used to annoy me when letters arrive with initial on them instead of full name.

PotteringAlong · 13/08/2020 17:25

I don’t like Tom and Ted, but I do like Thomas and Edward. I wouldn’t shorten the names.

PotteringAlong · 13/08/2020 17:26

If I was going to shorten them, I would make it Tom and Ed, which sounds a bit less matchy matchy.

Carouselfish · 13/08/2020 17:28

Sounds a bit puppety...agree Tom and Ed preferable.

RuthW · 13/08/2020 17:33

Perfect names

EarlGreyJenny · 13/08/2020 17:33

Tom and Ed better I think. Tom and Ted (both lovely names on their own) sounds like a CBeebies programme

SisterAgatha · 13/08/2020 17:37

They sound like a most courageous, bodacious team. It’s the “and ted” that’s doing it. Sorry Blush

zigaziga · 13/08/2020 17:43

I wouldn't give them the same initial. when letters arrive with only initials on them, it'll be hard to know who's letter is who

But they won’t have the same initials?

FizzyGreenWater · 13/08/2020 17:46

Eeek, nice names, but Tom and Ted makes them sound like hamsters. Tom and Ed or Tom and Eddie much better.

But also, it does sound a bit Tank Engine... however if you want trad names and like Thomas it's hard to get away from that!

howlathebees · 13/08/2020 17:47

I like Tom and Ed

MikeUniformMike · 13/08/2020 18:56

Call them Tom and Tim

AriesTheRam · 13/08/2020 18:58

I like Tommy and Teddy

Flappingflamingo · 13/08/2020 19:29

I know they were called Bill and Ben but my first thought was the flower pot men!! 😂 😂 🤭🤭 However I love the name Edward

Enderman · 13/08/2020 20:13

Thomas and Edward are trains! Tom and Ted are cute, Ted may end up as Ed I guess as you can’t choose what they get called at school etc.

Bassettgirl · 13/08/2020 20:22

I thought Bill and Ted too! I don't think the tank engine thing is an issue at all. Maybe if one was called Gordon or Percy.

Mollythepoodle · 13/08/2020 20:23

Tom and Ned
